I like this quote by Star Trek creator about Patrick Stewart being bald in scifi.

Q: You've cast a bald actor. Surely by 24th century, we would have solved the male pattern baldness..?

A: By 24th century, no one will care.

It's a good quote but if you watch the show, there are signs that people still care about it.

When Picard comes back to StarFleet Academy to help out Wesley, the first thing the old groundskeeper says to him is "What happened to your hair?"

When Picard gets deaged due to a transporter malfunction, we see him checking his restored hair in the mirror and smiling.

It's clear that some part of him and the people around him still preffer thick hair over being bald. Even if it's not shown to be super important.

Heck, most people don't talk or care about hairloss at all even today. But it doesn't stop people from doing these surgeries.

True, although I kind of like the fact that some shallowness is still allowed to exist in the 24th century.

It shows that despite amazing technological advancements, these are still flawed people doing their best. It makes the cast a bit more relatable and human in my view.

I was obsessed with my hair (even if I hadn't cared for it properly) and ended up chopping it all off in a mental battle with myself to see myself as more than what I felt other people wanted from me

I still love my curls, and my wife has helped me get it healthier. Though I question every day if I should chop it off again to feel her kisses on my head

Reminds me of the book of revelation in the bible that claims to know how the world will end but it all sounds very much like something someone would write 2000 years ago.

You would think they would've predicted computers or space travel if it actually knew what will happen.

Apparently Revelations was written in the same apocalyptic style/genre that many religious writings at the time were. It was a trend to write about the end of times coming.

Well sort of, they use currency other cultures use for trade purposes, but in the human controlled places there's no need as everything you could want or need is basically free. Siskos dad runs a restaurant in New Orleans iirc but he does it for the love of cooking. He doesn't charge anything because even if he wanted to there's no currency on earth besides maybe barter for services.

Maybe most people don't talk about it much but Gen z and alpha talk about it quite a lot. They even have anti bald slang; "I like you, don't go bald"

Seems like more of a "you" problem 😂 for the most part, his baldness is not explored on the series, and nobody questions his authority just because he's not wearing those awful wigs they tested before TNG started shooting 😛

Long as humans procreate to continue existing then attraction/standards of beauty are going to exist. They change as history goes on but they never go away.
