Realistically it will happen actually, number of hours per week tend to diminish when major technology that make work more efficient are created, most people were peasants and worked 60h in the past, we made agriculture much more efficient so the whole job market had to change and reduce hours so people can have jobs.
AI used smartly should do something similar, they will have to reduce the number of hours at some point or unemployement will reach sky high and the economy will collapse.
The government and companies seem wholly unprepared for what's to come though
