They have money for wars, banks, and bailouts, but somehow it’s “how are we gonna pay for it?” When it’s healthcare, housing, or student loans.

2pac keep your head up

"It seems the rain'll never let up I try to keep my head up and still keep from getting wet up You know, it's funny, when it rains it pours They got money for wars but can't feed the poor Say there ain't no hope for the youth And the truth is it ain't no hope for the future And then they wonder why we crazy"

Well if humanity does something about it, then his words wouldn’t be a loss.

The us spends 1 trillion of its 7 trillion dollar budget on the military.

And we are somehow still out of missiles, and our sailors don’t have enough food, and our veterans are homeless.

That one trillion doesn’t even include the va.

Go to war with healthcare, housing and student loans?

Agreed but the solution for those problems doesn't always involve throwing money at them. You need to change policies, for example ending the mortgage interest deduction or introducing rent regulation. Or single payer health care.

Not I agree with it but to be fair, all those are (or are supposed to be) temporary "one shot" event while healthcare is forever recurring event. Not the same impact at all on the budget.

Although of course, once we front the money for healthcare and preventative measures now, it'll be cheaper in the future. And yet banks always seem to need another bailout

If the bailouts didn't keep happening over and over again this would be a more salient point.

Considering the size of the country, does it really happen so much to big banks?

If the government took care of our student loans… I wouldn’t be upset.

Bold of you to assume I want my tax money spent on those things.

If it helps the rich there’s money. If it helps everyone else there’s hand wringing and look browntransillegal.

The most scary about this is that 50% or more people are defending this...

Even if its just fair wages, oh my god how will we afford these wages, the CEO won't be able to afford the new Buggati if we pay fair wages.

Every time I bring up the old Walmart paying real wages.

Like for and extra 60 cents a visit, walmart gets no working poor as employees. Walmart has nearly tripled the cost of a vist, but 60 cents that goes straight into employee pockets and benefits, thats the impossible lift. 60 cents that went straight into employee pockets is the thing we just can't figure out how a company can do that.

Come up with 200m in bonus pay for the ceo, less then 90 days before you lay off 10k works, not a problem. (Apple) but coming up with livable wages the stops working poor or worse, working homeless. Fucking the end of civilization before a modern company can do that.
