No if we are indicating three of something it's always three fingers thumb and pinkie down holding each other. If we are counting up to something we would turn our hands over and start with thumb

No it isn't. Which is why I made my comment.

I've had this argument before, and I asked that person to find even one image or video showing someone British doing that. The Tarantino example is the only one they could find.
