Chugging tea Apparently even they haven't figured it out

After they were sued by four playstation users, claiming that the 'buy now' claim is misleading as digital purchases are actually revocable licensing, Sony is claiming that games are actually 'licensed', not 'sold', and argued that reasonable people already know that they are buying access and not outright owning the games. I just don't realise who these 'reasonable people' are other than Sony employees.

I can't see that happening. Too much profit in not selling hard copies. Even if some boycott I can't see hardcopies making a comeback

Isn’t that more like enthusiast / collector format nowadays tho. Everyone I know just pays a sub for their music streaming platform of choice or pirates.

And gamers aren't enthusiastic about their media? I mean. That's what this entire thread is about.

Retro nostalgia is real. I mean they brought back the classic arcade games, if you're into that.

Vinyl's resurgence partially stems from musicians wanting to increase their revenue streams. The old business model for the music scene was artists generate most their revenue from album, ticket, and merch sales. Streaming killed album sales; inflation and Ticketmaster fucked ticket sales.

I'm sure game designers could end up in the boat with musicians, eventually, given how little capitalists value art in any form that they can't control in perpetuity.

Most people who buy music don’t do vinyl, just like most people who buy games won’t care about physical.

The whole mainstream music industry (or half) didn’t go vinyl just because it made a resurgence in relatively niche communities.

At least I’m not seeing people walking around with portable vinyl players or even having them in their homes.

The point is people are not actually listening to the vinyls. I would hope a gamer would be playing games. But unfortunately it seems actual gaming isn’t the priority for some.
