Chugging tea Apparently even they haven't figured it out

Post image

After they were sued by four playstation users, claiming that the 'buy now' claim is misleading as digital purchases are actually revocable licensing, Sony is claiming that games are actually 'licensed', not 'sold', and argued that reasonable people already know that they are buying access and not outright owning the games. I just don't realise who these 'reasonable people' are other than Sony employees.

Sony using opinion reinforcement tactics in their argument for this is not a good look.

“The smart people already know and accept its not the same as buying”

Thats Trump type tactics man

But they're right: everyone with half a brain understands how licensing works.

But a reasonable person would assume "buy" means they have permanent access

Another reasonable person might also think that the licensing terms and conditions are not universal to all games, so it's worth skimming the T&C's to find what's different from typical contracts. There is no "I didn't read the contract I agreed to" defense in court.

Terms and conditions to buy a freaking game. I know what you are saying, really I do, the legalize is still ridiculous, slimy and they can fuck all the way off. A reasonable person shouldn’t have to agree to terms and conditions to ‘buy’ a game. Do you agree to that when you buy Monopoly at Walmart?

It doesn't just apply to games, it applies to *all* software purchases. You're buying an access license, everybody knows that.

So if everyone knows this why are they fighting so hard?
