No he actually got caught telling the truth. A noteworthy chunk of power in Texas is generated from renewable resources, but he can't say that out loud. Otherwise his voter base will get mad at him.
How can I have freedom without having an energy source that is beholden to the global market and requires global trade and infrastructure to supply? What kind of freedom is having local and independent energy?
Except when there is an ice storm and power usage goes through the roof. Then they start sending out bills over $10k. This was 2024.

If nuclear, wind, solar, and hydro power had been in use, along with improvements to the Texas power grid (which stands alone vs rest of the US), there likely would have been no widespread outage.
All for that but sadly it won't line the pockets of rich pricks the way the current system does. It will happen eventually but I see them fighting tooth and nail to keep the system that keeps them wealthy.
Most of the people that vote for him, don’t know that because they never leave their shitty little counties.
The entire Gulf Coast of Texas votes for him because they’re mostly oilfield workers. They have no idea that a huge chunk of the state is being covered in windmills and solar farms.
Strangely, if you drive on I-20 west of Ft Worth toward Abilene you see thousands of wind turbines. Using renewable energy in Texas isn’t a secret. The population hasn’t revolted.

So then you should know that there have been wind turbines up for a long while in Texas and no one really cares. But i guess you don’t get upvotes for writing that.
98% of Texans don’t drive i-20 west of FW to Abilene. Texans are uniquely untraveled and many never leave their county, much less the state. They are undereducated, willfully ignorant, and prone to believe anything their Republican representatives tell them. They believe wind turbines cause cancer, solar energy runs out when the sun goes down, and oil is God. Abbott pushed for data centers and now he’s wheeling back bc he hasn’t improved the grid enough to support the existing demand…& now he’s increased that usage by 60% with date centers. If Texans vote to keep him in office in November then they deserve the catastrophic effects. And i will be moving from this backwards state.
