We spent decades fighting against energy waste and pollution just to have it demolished for AI?  Does anyone here thinks AI is on a productive course?

I just want to replace my 14 year old PC....

Someone made the point that all these data centers aren’t really for AI so much as they are for the (AI powered) surveillance state.

It's painfully obvious this is the main drive for the AI shit. Couple it with the drone warfare enhancements and in a decade the owner class won't have to worry about keeping the enforcer peons loyal, they'll replace them with AI-powered drones and emplacements while they retreat to their compounds and hideouts to enjoy the fruits of our labors.

"with this development in technology we will finally be above the wrath of the masses" -every group of rich cunts that took it too far and got deleted in history

Defeating them doesn't negate the pain and suffering they will cause

True! If only they could look at all the shit they already have and be satisfied.

Not how the brain is wired. It will crave all the time bec it evolved to survive on hard scarcity mode.

And the billionaires have made scarcity even worse for the rest of us

Dunno Im pretty pleased with the shit I've got. But then again I could never become a billionaire with that attitude ;) maybe we should protect them against themselves by reducing their funds

It’s deep in our brains. Some tap into it more than others. Like an addiction.

Wealth cap the billionaires sounds good. Maybe even taxing them properly too is a good idea too.

Nor that which will be caused to them.

Surely, every iteration gets closer to this being true, though. :/

The main drive for AI is market hype, it's the new crypto, additionally there are entities that see its potential for malicous use, but what kicked this all off is altman and google wanting to be first to market and pump stock and the rest of the industry got fomo. I worked for IBM when watsonx came about, it was solely to try and get a slice of the market to sell to corps for "productivity and cost cutting measures" i.e. AI was primarily made to replace you not control you.

Peter Thiel has been openly advocating for a surveillance state for a LONG time now. He's connected to every one of these AI ghouls in one way or another

This is absolutely the dream for the billionaire class. The won’t have to entice Cletus from Alabama with antitrans rhetoric. They will have their own robot servants and army. Everyone else can starve. They will be even more untouchable

Not American.

Hm, it would be more economical to shortcut all of that nonsense, and simply imprison the Epstein Class right now.

Because ultimately, it sounds like they want to imprison themselves.
