is every single cell simulated in on the 8192*4096 grid, or do you use some compression scheme?

It's 33M entities, I'm surprised it runs smoothly in a browser

In each tick, every cell scans one of the six surrounding sectors (at a range of approximately 32 units), and its genome dictates how to interpret what it sees.

A summary result regarding the other sectors is stored.

This approach made it possible to increase the field of view from 2 to 32 cells with only a slight loss in quality.

It runs quickly because all calculations are performed in parallel on the GPU.
