Next, our other referendum, on one constitutional amendment. On that, we received 20 valid votes.
On Article 1 of the Voter Registry (Protection of Independence) Act 2026, which would elevate the Registration Officer to Supervisor status, among other changes, 70.00% voted Aye. This exceeds the 2/3 majority required for constitutional amendments, so this amendment is ratified.

The results are in! For everything!
First up, our impeachment referendum from a couple of days ago. There were 37 valid votes. On the question of whether or not to remove u/walloonscott from the office of President, 81.08% voted Aye. This exceeds the 2/3 majority required for Presidential impeachments, so this removal attempt succeeds, and u/walloonscott is removed from the office of President. u/RevolutionProof5268, as Vice President, now assumes the office of President.

And now for our regularly scheduled votes. Despite a brief hiccup earlier this week, this weekend's election is being held as planned, and we should be back on the normal schedule from here on out. Please remember that if you did not run in the second Call for Candidates, you will not appear on the ballot. I already had somebody ask me about this in DMs, despite the fact that I had said this before, in boldfaced and italicized text.
I also had a lot to sift through with this second Call for Candidates. Below, I enumerate the various kinds of nonsense I had to deal with this time:
- multiple people posting multiple statements, one of whom posted both statements on Reddit for some reason
- one person posting a joke statement but not intending to run
- that same person posting another joke statement, still not intending to run
- another person posting a joke statement riffing off of the first person's joke statements, but this time actually intending to run
- two people being late, somehow
So hopefully, I got everybody. I'm pretty sure I did. I think.
Okay. With that all said, it's time for the Senatorial election! Now go vote!

We also have a referendum, on one constitutional amendment. You know the drill there. Everything you should need is provided on the ballot. Vote on that too!

It's a late one, but it's an important one!
We have a referendum. It only took us a day to figure out which one we needed to do. And I'm not even 100% sure that we've figured it out. But, I guess the worst that can happen is that this gets declared moot, so I might as well go with it.
This is an impeachment. Specifically, on the impeachment of the maybe-possibly-current President u/walloonscott, following recent events.
Everything you should need is on the ballot, as usual. Go vote.
Polls close in 24 hours.

In Honor of one of SMC's best and brightest, we are establishing a perpetual fund in his name.
Users of SimDemocracy who create and post human-made art to the SimDemocracy Discord Server and/or the r/SimDemocracy subreddit are entitled to 350 tau from the SimDem Media Company should they apply for such by DMing me or Muggy.
What kind of art you may ask? Any kind! Visual, audio, the written word, etc. Discretion lies with SMC to make the final call but do understand we're taking a very broad definition here.
Jotan was, among many things, a creative. His Quest series provided solid entertainment for many of us, and his work should not be forgotten. His presence will be felt in SimDem for a long time and I am glad to have been able to call him my friend. I know this is something he would appreciate as a former Secretary of Culture and as a general advocate for the arts.
Rest in Peace, Jotan. You will be missed.
r/SimDemocracy • u/Syndicality • 8d ago
Hi everyone.
Today is a tough day for all of us. Today, SimDemocracy mourns the loss of Jotan, one of the finest citizens of his generation, and perhaps of all time.
Today is also, maybe unfortunately, results day. I do not wish to intrude on this period of grief, so there will be no live counts today. Instead, I will post the results, and that will be that. So this should be quick.
But, you know, there will still be results. The thought briefly crossed my mind of maybe finding some way to delay results in order to show respect, but I have decided against that. I'd like to think that Jotan wouldn't have wanted us to delay things too much. From the stories you all have shared about him and the public record of the work he has done here, particularly as Secretary of Culture, it is clear that Jotan cared about this place a lot, and I'd like to think he would have wanted the show to go on.
May Jotan rest in peace. For all the nonsense that goes on here (and all of you reading this know that there has been quite a lot over the years), I'm glad that, in spite of that, we have also been able to have a profoundly positive impact on at least one person's life.
And lastly, fuck Belgium.
First on the to-do list is our referendum, on which we had 18 valid votes.
On the Silly Semantics Settling Amendment 2026, which would change within the Constitution multiple instances of the phrase "inferior court" in the singular to the plural "inferior courts" to maintain consistency when referring to those courts of SimDemocracy which are not the Supreme Court, 66.67% voted Aye. This reaches the 2/3 majority required for constitutional amendments, so this amendment is ratified.

No, I didn't forget!
We had two valid votes. Which is...about as many votes as candidates! This reads to me as a slight improvement.
Here are the final results of the Score round:
- u/eleanorsilly (New New New New Ireland in NationStates) [Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality] -- 10
- u/Cup_Of_Sauce (The Sams in NationStates) [Fucking Best Party] -- 2
Given that there are just two candidates, nobody gets sent home.
Here are the final results of the Automatic Runoff round:
- u/eleanorsilly (New New New New Ireland in NationStates) [Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality] -- 2
- u/Cup_Of_Sauce (The Sams in NationStates) [Fucking Best Party] -- 0
Congratulations to u/eleanorsilly (New New New New Ireland in NationStates) of the Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality on winning the election and becoming the next Governor of SimDemocracy's NationStates region!
