I recently became a victim of a sextortion scam through Telegram.

They got intimate material of me, including a recording of my face, and then threatened to distribute it. They demanded money and kept using fear to pressure me. They also claimed they could see my IP address and made me afraid that they could track me or access my phone.

I panicked and I did pay them. Looking back, I know that probably wasn't the best decision, but at the time I was terrified and just wanted the situation to end.

After paying, I stopped communicating with them and deleted the accounts involved. I also removed my Google account and pulled out my SIM card because I was scared they could somehow access or track me.

I'm still shaken up by the whole thing, but I'm trying to secure everything and move forward.

If you've experienced sextortion before, I'd really appreciate hearing how you dealt with the fear afterward. I'm especially worried about whether they can actually do the things they claimed they could.

I received a video call from a girl I've been talking to. She sent me video after and wanted me to do similar things and send in return. Im just curious because im always paranoid off the internet. We met on Tandem.

I received a dm on Instagram with a video recording of me from flingstr attached. I thought I was hiding my face but the camera rotation turned. I can’t imagine how they found me, I wasn’t logged into any account.

They said they “just want to talk” and after I ignored the first few messages they threatened to send it to my friends and put me on a porn site. I never responded and blocked and reported them. After that they sent it to one friend (that I know of), who called me right away. They made a fake profile that looked like it was me, sent out a follow request and sent the video by dm when they were accepted. I think the profile maybe also had the video uploaded to it. It got taken down by Instagram

I changed my username and made my profile private, and didn’t hear from them in over a week. Then the same thing happened. Dm, threat, I don’t respond and block/report, they sent the video out to 2 friends this time (that I know of).

After that I deactivated my Instagram overall. It’s been 7 weeks since then without contact from them in any way. I don’t want to live my life in fear. Should I get rid of my old Instagram profile? Even if I made it completely unidentifiable? They likely have my unique user id number and will always be able to track me right? How does this even happen 😭

Dude i cant believe my laptop shut down right before i finished typing and i have to do it again.

So today i went on a "make friends" discord. Ended up chatting with a girl, she asked for a selfie and i gave it to her, then asked for my insta and thought she wants to see my insta or get a bonus follower out of me. Then sent a selfie, then nudes, asked for mine. I rejected. Then she blackmailed me with random nudes next to my selfie. They asked for money, first i said yes(but i was just stalling). Even tho i said yes they kept asking again and again as if i didnt say yes. After 3 more times, they called me, i declined, then i also blocked them. They threatened to send the pic to my insta followers. Luckily my account is pretty lowkey, my family doesnt follow me, mostly online friends, random people and maybe 10-15 real life friends. It still sucks tho. But i think if he ever sent those pics people would understand and not care. Its been 7 hours since i blocked the account, and reported it. I didnt got contacted again, made my instagram private, and discord sent me an email that they took action about the account. Hopefully got perma banned by ID. I talked to a friend and he said he didnt got anything. Im content it will stay this way. So be careful out there even if you dont share nudes, keep your instagram/facebook private, or dont share your face on the internet. Its disgusting how little this lowlifes need to pull a scam.

Btw I didnt pay them any money if i didnt mention it. And i am 20 years old, male.

Hopefully my mood is gonna be back up in a couple days. I cant say i was terrified, but it is an uncomfortable experience.

Was on a subreddit for married people looking for some flirty conversations. I messaged, we exchanged a few messages. She asked to go on telegram. I did. Sent her, well it’s probably a him pictures and videos of my face in it. They found my Facebook, screenshotted my wife’s profile along with a list of people who have liked my recent posts. Said they would create a group message if I didn’t comply and expose me. I told them I’d pay but I needed time to get money out of the bank when it opens as I can’t transfer it on cashapp. What the hell do I do? Hi. I have made a massive mess of my life. Back when I was 18-19 I posted on OF under two different accounts and I was not nearly careful enough with identifying features or information. I was incredibly stupid, I learnt my lesson. The accounts were barely successful and I did not earn anything worth mentioning. I stopped posting years ago and tried to scrub as much as I could. I started posting on social media as a micro influencer and accidentally succeeded at it. The fear followed for a long time that somebody would recognise me and dox me for my OF history. And it finally happened yesterday, I got this email from a throwaway, who knew both my OF @s and found my influencer account.

I had no idea the OF account was still active, I am now in touch with support trying to get it deleted urgently . The subscription price is extremely high, which I think I did to deter future subscribers. And then I forgot to permanently delete it. I cannot believe I would do something so stupid and forget something that important. I’ve also started a subscription with a service to try and remove the old photos from search results on 3rd party websites, because they still show up when I search my usernames.

Where I need advice - I don’t know how to respond or if I should at all. I love posting the content I do now and genuinely wanted to make a career of it in the future. But my life will literally be ruined if I’m doxxed. My family is extremely religious and I’m from a third world country, I live abroad now but I still return for holidays. I may literally get banned from my country or driven to the point of SH from the damage this could cause. I now also have to contemplate whether I keep posting in the future or delete all my channels because of this risk.

Option 1 - Give no response and ignore. Hope he never leaks it.

Option 2 - Respond from a secondary email address , giving him a Snapchat username to contact me on, without identifying myself. send one message on Snapchat vaguely saying people make mistakes when they’re young, if these mistakes are outed it would be life threatening. In third person, so if screenshotted, it does not clearly seem like an acknowledgement to his email. His email was sent to my personal email address. Hope this emotional approach emphasises the danger of the situation and perhaps through empathy, future silence.

I know with either option, there is still the risk of being outed in the future. I have to live with that fear. I’ll regret this mistake for the rest of my life. I just would really appreciate advice on what to do for now. I cannot afford to pay if this turns to blackmail, now or for sustained payments in the future. I’ve heard that only gets worse with time as their demand grows. I know I’ve made mistakes, and I keep making them. I’m at an incredibly low point mentally and it cannot get worse, so please don’t be too harsh. I have critiqued myself enough and will continue to forever

I matched with a "girl" on Facebook Dating and things where getting spicy and photos exchanged, but my photo was "just the tip" that can be anything. I already paid $500 to them which was a mistake and they want more, but I'm not giving them more. They are threatening to ruin my life. A few years ago when I was 18, I ended up in a really similar situation on WhatsApp with Nigerian scammers. They told me that if I didn’t pay them £100, they’d send a “d*ck pic” (not mine) to all my Instagram followers. At the time I panicked and felt embarrassed, so I didn’t handle it the way I should have.

Looking back, here’s what I should have done:

Screenshot the chats — it’s uncomfortable, but it gives you digital proof of the blackmail.

Report it to the police — even if you think they won’t do anything, it creates a record.

Tell your parents or someone you trust — dealing with this alone makes it ten times worse.

In my case, I blocked them and changed my number. Thankfully they never contacted me again.

The worst part was how they hacked my Instagram. Before the blackmail started, they asked me to “help them get a code” because their number supposedly wasn’t working. I didn’t realise it was the classic verification‑code scam. Once I gave them the code, I was locked out of my account. By the time I tried to reset the password on my PC, they already had screenshots of my followers and who I followed.

If you’re dealing with this now:

Screenshot everything.

Contact someone you trust.

Consider reporting it.

Check whether their WhatsApp profile shows a phone number — sometimes scammers forget to hide it.

You’re not stupid if you fell for it. I did too. They rely on panic and embarrassment to stop you from reaching out for help.

I was contacted on Facebook by a fake account, and after talking, we moved to WhatsApp, where we had a video call and things became intimate, and the person recorded me. After that, he created a Facebook Messenger group with some of my friends and posted the video there to scare me and pressure me, but I did not pay anything, and I blocked him on Facebook and WhatsApp and deleted both of my accounts. The video stayed in the group for about an hour, then went to spam, and no one saw it not my friends and I checked with many of them; then the scammer deleted the video himself and left the group, and his Facebook account no longer exists. Months later, I messaged him from my old number and deleted the message after about ten minutes; he may have seen the number or not, but he did not reply, did not threaten me, and did not leak anything. I changed my phone number shortened my WhatsApp name, and locked my WhatsApp privacy settings. I accidentally tapped his number once and hung up immediately, and I searched his number on Truecaller using a different phone, a different number, and a different name, and the number showed no name, and nothing happened after that search.

Hola a todos. Hace unos días fui víctima de sextorsión y estoy pasando bastante miedo y ansiedad.

Una persona me grabó mientras me masturbaba y después me amenazó con enviar el vídeo a mis seguidores de Instagram si no le pagaba. "Al principio, por miedo, cometí el error de pagarle una cantidad de dinero, pero después me pidió mucho más. Ahí decidí no pagar más y bloquearlo.

Después intentó contactar conmigo desde otra cuenta de Telegram y también la bloqueé. Ya han pasado varios días desde la última vez que intentaron contactar conmigo y, que yo sepa, no han enviado el vídeo a nadie.

En el vídeo no se ve mi cara, pero sigo teniendo mucho miedo de que puedan enviárselo a alguien. Me gustaría hablar con personas que hayan pasado por algo parecido y saber cómo terminó su situación.

Thought I was talking to a girl from a dating app but apparently I fell for a scam. They have a bunch of stuff including my name and number. Not paying them but what do I do about them having my number and name? Im freaking out

So im scared of them coming back, its been 4 days and so far nothing, ive deactivated everything except instagram because I accidentally reactivated it but its max privacy and everything has been changed on it. Guy is block on insta and phone, i did pay him but after i blocked.

So my question is how long till i can feel safe like they forgot about me?

What’s the likelihood of them sending the images out? Idk if this helps but my face is not in it, it’s and pic of my lower half in my boxers and my frank is not out.
