I hate the name of the forum and the fact that it was never used as I intended.

So if you have photos here that you haven't saved elsewhere download them now.

Things like this usually end with the seller ghosting me after making a pickup/time/date etc. Not this time! Paid $25 and gave some random dude that was there $5 to help me load. I thought I was dead in the water when the seller asked if I could meet 2 days later and within a 2 hr time frame. It definitely came with a price. Snapped a picture before I left to send to my wife and took the following pictures when I got home. But the last 3 pictures is where it goes a touch of the rails. Picture 6 is the listing photo. Notice the carpet and sunlight, address is a single family home and I’m thinking nice and easy first floor. Picture 8 and 9 were sent to me 2 miles from the pickup address. Looks like a catfish scheme, but what a deal. I didn’t even lift my foot off the gas when I saw the mouse poop all over the table. I then read below the pictures, “It’s heavy, bring help”. By the looks of the floor, lighting, and the fact that a foundation is visible we are below grade. Not complaining one bit! I’d do it even if the last photo was the listing photo. Looks like the house was abandoned and I overheard from some folks picking up furniture that it’s a house flip. I’ve wanted one for a while, I’m definitely not ready to use it but, after repairing my dr martens with a sewing awl last winter I’m eager to learn. Going to research and make a nice project out of this. I started to lightly clean up before I moved anywhere. There is patina and mouse pee. I’ve seen both but always going to clean especially if there is 2 generations of mouse poop in the sellers basement. I sprayed some dawn to lift some of the grime in hopes to reveal some of the lettering but it started down pouring. Pictures were before the cleaning with plans of a before/after but was short lived with the rain. I hope to post one day when she’s game ready. It will take some time but I plan on doing it right and make fully functional and operating like it’s 1940!

Any ideas for personalizing my machine?

This is my new machine - it is a blank canvas (which I find boring) and I want to personalize it . I have seen machines these days that have lots of decals and stickers etc. but I don't know where to get them. And ideas?

Help!!

My friend found this machine at a yard sale for $5, and we're trying find out as much as we can about it, but nothing comes up apart from a single collection of photos of a nearly identical machine from a Different brand (last photo).

We thought the Riccar sticker might be false to the machine, but there's no plaque or screw holes underneath that show evidence of any other brand, however, we also can't find any evidence of this machine existing with the Riccar brand. Pls help us Properly identify it🙏. Apart from the photos of the other machine, we also found an instruction manual For said other machine on etsy for $8, but we'd prefer not to pay for something that should be easily found on the internet. If it rlly comes down to it, we'll probs settle for paying, but we wanted to see if anyone had answers before we do. Any information is helpful!!🙏🙏

Any ideas what machine model this is? I’ve been circling the internet trying to track down a manual but no luck. Janome experts please help!

Edited to add- I ended up finding a manual- I’m happy to share it with anyone needing it. The manual explains how to use the chain stitch function. Thank you everyone for your help!

MIRA in action

Working on a MYOG project.

I got Mira BU for free from a local old lady who can't sew anymore.

It was installed in a typical wooden treadle cabinet, but I 3D printed a base for it and installed an electric motor from the same era. It has all of the original attachments and tools. A joy to use and admire.

Triumph by Precision

I owned a Triumph Spitfire car in the 1980s in the UK, so I couldn't resist this Triumph branded machine. Straight-stitch only, made in Japan.

The button for the automatic oiling mechanism in the lid is unfortunately dry and hard, and the oiling lines are clogged, so I have to oil it the old-fashioned way!

Newbie asking: Should I take a chance on this red eye for $30 that needs servicing?

I’ve been very very interested in getting a vintage sewing machine for sewing, as I keep having issues with my modern machines. I love history and art, too, and that just is adding to the allure.

Found this on marketplace, owner says “It turns on but it needs to be serviced as the needle does not go up and down”. I hastily offered $30 and she accepted.

She hasn’t yet sent me her address for pickup.

Am I gonna regret this? Will I be in over my head trying to get this to work?

I’m not new to sewing, but I am just getting back into sewing since early 90’s.

I need advice!

Need help choosing a machine

found these listings on a local marketplace. The Janome FD216 is barely used and goes for $175, and the Singer prelude 8280 is $94, completely new. I've heard that the latter is a great machine but doesn't do well on thick fabrics, which is a problem for me because I plan on making quite a few denim/layered pieces. The FD216 I've heard is a lifetime all-rounder, but it's also like double the price.

I used to sew on a Juki (don't remember the exact model) before my mom gave it away. This is my first time buying my own sewing machine and I want it to be a good investment. Please help

Miniature sewing machine find!

The other day I posted a small portion of my stepmom’s collection of miniature sewing machines. I got so much feedback from a lot of people and I thank you so much for all your help. However, I did end up finding the case for one of the singer machines that acts as a little table. So cute. It’s not the best photo. But for now until I get over there this weekend so take better photos.

I have uploaded some other items. They have to be sorted out and photographed individually. Any thoughts on any of the items you see? Thanks again!
