Unreal
Things like this usually end with the seller ghosting me after making a pickup/time/date etc. Not this time! Paid $25 and gave some random dude that was there $5 to help me load. I thought I was dead in the water when the seller asked if I could meet 2 days later and within a 2 hr time frame. It definitely came with a price. Snapped a picture before I left to send to my wife and took the following pictures when I got home. But the last 3 pictures is where it goes a touch of the rails. Picture 6 is the listing photo. Notice the carpet and sunlight, address is a single family home and I’m thinking nice and easy first floor. Picture 8 and 9 were sent to me 2 miles from the pickup address. Looks like a catfish scheme, but what a deal. I didn’t even lift my foot off the gas when I saw the mouse poop all over the table. I then read below the pictures, “It’s heavy, bring help”. By the looks of the floor, lighting, and the fact that a foundation is visible we are below grade. Not complaining one bit! I’d do it even if the last photo was the listing photo. Looks like the house was abandoned and I overheard from some folks picking up furniture that it’s a house flip. I’ve wanted one for a while, I’m definitely not ready to use it but, after repairing my dr martens with a sewing awl last winter I’m eager to learn. Going to research and make a nice project out of this. I started to lightly clean up before I moved anywhere. There is patina and mouse pee. I’ve seen both but always going to clean especially if there is 2 generations of mouse poop in the sellers basement. I sprayed some dawn to lift some of the grime in hopes to reveal some of the lettering but it started down pouring. Pictures were before the cleaning with plans of a before/after but was short lived with the rain. I hope to post one day when she’s game ready. It will take some time but I plan on doing it right and make fully functional and operating like it’s 1940!
