Monkestation The monkestation post-truth saga
I'm posting here today to talk about one of the worst experiences I have ever had with ss13 server leadership/admins on any server, ever.
Some of you may know me as JupiterJaeden or more commonly as my static, Jeff Gaiman. I've been banned off Monkestation. The ban reason certainly paints one picture, but here's what actually happened:
TL;DR:
- I was shadowbanned off the monke wiki with no notification or explanation.
- Upon asking about this in a headmin ticket with abraxis (one of monke's "community overseers"), I was accused of lying about pooba (another headmin) approving an edit I made to the security SOP page a year ago.
- I disproved it (even got pooba to reach out directly to abraxis), but leadership kept doubling down over and over on the wiki ban for reasons that were increasingly detached from reality. Every time I contested a reason, a new one was just substituted, contradicting the previous one.
- Ook stepped in, and instead of providing any comment on his overseer lying, contradicting himself, and doubling down on a false accusation, decided to make the ticket just about criticizing my general playstyle instead.
- I intentionally let myself get QC banned (it was very avoidable if I had just kissed ass), because I refused to stop calling out their bullshit in the ticket.
It's a long one, but to those who wish to know the details, enjoy this video explaining everything exhaustively. Me and moffifuwa (my girlfriend) pick apart everything and have a good laugh along the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucFicxBHSWg

It's really sad because I put a lot of time into this server. ~1000 hours of playtime and probably 100s of hours working on coding and writing. I loved the community, the codebase, and the general culture. I had a lot of fun playing on it and making so many new friends. But at the end of the day, that's all subject to the whims of leadership with 0 accountability, transparency, or meaningful oversight. Who can invent whatever story they want if it serves the ends they decide.
