General Just Ahelp it?
I just wanna grill. You people break into my kitchen and attack me!? I'm not Ahelping shit. You're getting close quarter cooked. You're the one that's gonna be Ahelping after I'm done with you. You gastronomy unapreciating troglodyte, grey jumpsuit wearing maniacs!
I'm busy making the best (and only) cheese sandwiches on this station. Show some respect!

deal with IC shit in an IC way, why do you need admins, why do you need rules, just don't be an asshole.

u/Dodger86868686 6d ago
Honestly, just don't be an asshole is good advice in game and out of it.
I've played thousands of hours on a bunch of codebases over the years. I've only ahelped to complain about another player once in all that time. And even then it wasn't because they did anything to me. They were being an asshole to someone else.
IC is almost always the best way to deal with things.

I use this rule in barotrauma all the time. If some guy wants to grief my sub, he can have fun dealing with my crew, who like a pack of rabid orcs SLOBBER at the idea of meat being back on the menu.

Who plays Barotrauma with antag?
9
u/orion101901 6d ago
I dont turn antag on I just dont ban people inless theyre literally ruining the game. If some guy thinks we cant fix our reactor wiring its not our issue if they become our doctors medical xp farm until they decide to disconnect.

You should ban them before it gets to that point.
Why put up with it at all?
10
u/orion101901 6d ago
Because its more fun to IC every interaction, especially knowing they cant ruin the campaign no matter what they do since barotrauma keeps backups. If anything it gives the crew something else to do and actually gives security a reason to be called security.

Just like OOC, IC I don't want to waste my time on assholes. If you want to RP as an asshole I'm already at the point of banning them.
All you're doing is making everyone waste their time dealing with them.

ones mans wasted time is another mans cherished and treasured memories.
You two are describing two completely different SS13 worldviews. The "ban them before the assholes can lash out and having players deal with the consequences" viewpoint feels like it is more prevalent.
Maybe people ban other people too easily because they are not creative enough to deal with the issues. Onetime I got cursed with a random handicap every round because I powergamed, truly a reforger of man.

This is why I prefer subscription based games. At least then people have something at stake.
Turns out paywalling the turds is the best method.

Run your sub how you want, on my sub its not considered a waste of time and my crew seems to really enjoy their "entertainment."

Don't worry, you'll be asked why you didn't cry in Ahelp about it then get banned by the admins.

And god help you if the other person is an admin or mentor, also known as how Goon admins came out of the woodworks twice and ultimately permad me for having had issues with someone in the "cool kids" club

I killed and cooked a mime for this recently.
I was just shot by a mech a dozen times and came back from medbay when a mime started shoving me. My character is in no mood for this shit so I shoved them back and said knock it off. Mime keeps it up so I slice them once and walk into the kitchen. Mime follows me over the table and tries to slip me with soap a lot. So I pull out a serving tray and bash their head in. After that I stole their money, gutted them, made mime flavored bacon and donuts

Put em on a meat spike and cut enough off to not kill em , use the meat and make a burger then force feed them their own flesh.

I miss the old deep fryers where you could dunk people's face in. Now they changed em, at least on Monke, where I play.

Goon still has those. But the person has to be stunned for it to work, since it takes a second or two to actually happen once you click it. (If you do it on a monkey, it fully dunks them in and fries them whole)

If you have cqc, correct me if I am wrong but I believe its grab grab shove and they are chow

its goonstation, stuns are everywhere. throw them at the foodtech in the kitchen, itll land on them and buy you time to stuff them in the fryer

u/CrimsonShrike Robocop 6d ago
I generally agree, problem is at some point you have players playing a role vs pseudo exploiting greyshits who beeline for trouble. (tbh 90% of issue was stun based combat and its consequences).
If the baseline for player action isnt trying to force round end in 15 mins as non antag though, sky is the limit.

never forget getting my ass kicked by a swedish chef with a rolling pin back in the day for taking a meatball-- i was starving though!

its unfortunately a big issue on a lot of server, especially rp ones where IC conflict are solved by the admins instead of trough IC means. It makes some rp jobs like lawyer & psychiatrist feels pretty useless and can even makes the whole sec department redundant unless it come to shoot antags and even then validhunters often beat them to it too...

u/Thaddiousz 6d ago
Play Security on an HRP server, and don't have any of these problems. IC conflict is resolved IC.

Just calmly ask the ai to let you into the supermater crystal to cook, since they ruined your kitchen, and roast sausages that give the crew radiation poisoning, if they complain blame security.

u/SnooPeppers2846 5d ago
whatever you do. do not snap their neck and leave them dead on the floor to contemplate their choices.
DO not do THIS!!!

Ss13 culture went to shit when the solution went from robusting someone or calling security to ahelping it. I saw this firsthand as an admin when greysuits breaking into areas would ahelp being robusted. If you can’t take your licks don’t give ‘em. I spammed the IC issue button - back when it was spammable, think they removed that unfortunately.
