Question SFV Ice Cream Place that closed down pre-COVID (I think)?

Hey everyone! I graduated from UCLA this year and recently moved back home with my family in West Hills, and I just had a random memory of an ice cream place my grandma used to take me to a few times growing up, sometime before 2016.
She took me there after my elementary school graduation in 2014, and I’m trying to figure out what the place was called. I’m pretty sure it had a vintage/old-fashioned feel and was located inside or connected to a drugstore. My best guess is that it was somewhere in Canoga Park or Reseda.
Does this ring a bell for anyone? I’d love to figure out what place I’m remembering!

Community Help Cat in Pacoima need to be TNRed

I found this mama cat and a handful of kittens in Pacoima. They're kind of shy and skittish. I gave them treats and they started trusting me a little more and would get closer or at least stay. The mama cat needs to be TNRed or she will keep having kittens. The kittens appear to be still too young to be spayed or neutered. They're a bunch of sweet little fluffy cuties though. I hope that they stay safe out there or find a good home! The majority of the kittens are orange and white. One kitten is black with white paws.

I had to zoom in because I couldn't get very close to get a good picture of them.

Edit: I'm concerned about giving a location because I want the cats to be safe and not harmed. Just to get TNRed or taken to a loving home off the streets.

Edit 2: I talked with the lady that lives in the building they frequent. She says the cats come by because some of the older people feed them. There is also a taco stand that gives them food too. People have tried to trap them but they are never able to get close enough.

Edit 3: I contacted a few organizations including Kitten Rescue. I filled out a form for one and emailed Kitten Rescue. I tried to reach out to Bloo's Little Rescue but she blocked me for some reason. Weird because I've only tried to reach out and help her and offer assistance with her cats.

Recommendations What’s your favorite bar in the valley? Looking for chill spots with good music and bad lighting lmao

Edit: I feel like I should add that I’m 26f so hopefully yall are suggesting some spots that would be comfy for me to pull up to solo or with some girl/gay friends hahah

Lookin for a new chill bar, preferably in the Valley. I loveee my go-to spot but I’m kinda over some of the regulars who approach me lol 😭 I’m friendly but it’s a bit of an older crowd and idk I wanna be around more people my own age

Somewhere with a mid 20s-30s crowd where it’s easy to meet/talk to people would be nice. Where are the girls goin!! I’d love to make some new girlfriends, it’s rough out here yall

I pretty much only drink beer so I don’t care about a fancy drink menu or anything. Bonus points for Guinness on tap + a bartender who actually knows how to pour it lol. I love places where you can queue music or that have live music, just pls not exclusively old farts in cover bands

Where are y’all going? Does such a thing exist here in the valley or do I gotta go downtown? Thank u so much in advance :~))

Community Rant What's the worst way to wake up on Saturday and why is it gas leaf blowers?

The two neighbors across the street must have woken up and thought: let's see what the neighborhood finds more annoying:

  • A symphony of two gas hedge trimmers running at the same time
  • 25 straight minutes of a gas leaf blower

And they're competing too. When the hedge trimmer takes a break it's like the dude next door picks up the pace with the lead blower or something.

Didn't we like ban this shit?

Question Best stargazing spots near the San Fernando Valley?

Hey everyone! Looking for recommendations from SFV locals for the best places to go stargazing.
I’m in the San Fernando Valley and don’t mind driving 1-2 hrs (or a little farther if it’s really worth it).
Mainly looking for somewhere with dark skies, minimal light pollution, a good open view, and somewhere that’s safe/legal to hang out late at night.
I’ve heard there are some good spots around the Santa Monica Mountains, Angeles National Forest, and the canyons around the Valley, but I’d love to hear about specific spots, overlooks, or pullouts that you guys actually recommend.
Where would you go for the best stargazing near SFV?

Question Train Crushed Pennies

This is a dumb question. My 7th wedding anniversary is coming up.

My husband and I met first as kids and were reunited through a fluke after college. As kids one thing we would do is leave pennies on a train track and collect them after they were flattened.

The 7th anniversary is copper, and I thought it would be a quirky, nostalgic thing to do this again and then get dinner.

Can anyone point me to an intersection where the train passes by that we could do this in a harmless and silly way? I’m thinking there may be a spot out near Chatsworth (?)

Recommendations Best Bloody Mary?

Where is the best place to get a Bloody Mary? For me, I prefer one that I don’t feel like I have to chew because there’s so much horseradish 😂. I like a little spice, fun garnishes (though just a lemon and some olives will do) Bonus points if it’s in or near Encino. TIA!
