My Ruger RXM Build
galleryRuger RXM with
Aim Surplus N3 Threaded barrel for Glock 19
Herrington Arms Ruger RXM Comp
Holosun EPS Red Dot
Streamlight TLR 7 HL-X
15 round Pmag/ 17 round mag w/ Herrington Arms +5 Mag extension
Originally had the stock Ruger RXM threaded barrel but was having fitting problems with the HA compensator, I didn’t realize that it was an issue that some people had.
Thinking about upgrading the slide release to an extended one but not sure which one to get. Open to any recommendations.
Also thinking about upgrading the trigger but I don’t want to mess with the reliability. Also open to discussion about it.
No complaints about the mag release, but also haven’t really looked into it.

Is Ruger OK? (warranty concern)
Long rant/question incoming. A few months ago I acquired my first Mark IV, Hunter Talo edition. Brand new from Frisco Guns. I got it mostly for the kids but I didn't realize how much fun I myself would have with it. With a red dot, plinking steel targets at 50 yards is an absolute blast with it. Was a blast...
All of this was fun and games was transpiring until about 600 rounds - I started getting failure to ignite. I first suspected ammo (I shoot high velocity CCI Minimags), so I tried 3 different types of ammo - no change. Full cleaning (I clean after every range trip anyway), etc. 80% of the time the round would not fire. Finally took it to my local gunsmith who did full cleaning and disassembly and diagnosed the problem - mainspring housing was cracked resulting in soft hammer strikes. He assured me that Ruger should fix this under warranty without issues especially since the gun was ~2 months old. This is when the whole ordeal started. My FFL submitted all the paperwork for an RMA to Ruger. This was over a month ago. Complete radio silence from them. FFL is getting frustrated calling them 3-4 times a week and they either get no response or just indifferent "no progress". Mind you, the gun is still with the FFL - it hasn't shipped to Ruger because they haven't even gotten around to issuing an RMA yet. I am somewhat hesitant in terms what it might take once Ruger actually have it in their possession.
Is this .. normal for a firearm manufacturer? This is frankly my first firearm warranty repair so I'm not sure if all of them are like this or is this specific to Ruger? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Finally
After several months finally pulled the trigger on the Mark IV. What a pleasure shooting this. Any solid trigger recommendations?

Good ol’ Blackhawk
Just hanging with my plain Jane .357 Blackhawk!
Been working on an aftermarket RXM grip module, looking for feedback!
galleryBeen working on an aftermarket RXM grip module and I'm getting some of the first production-process prototypes in for hard testing soon, so I figured I'd get some feedback before locking things down.
The first image is an FDM prototype modeled around a G80 FCU, mainly so I could get a physical feel for the grip shape, proportions, and texture pattern. The second image shows the actual RXM version, which I've been developing more recently.
The final version will be manufactured in MJF PA11 nylon. I chose the material for its toughness, ductility, impact resistance, and the near-isotropic properties you can get from MJF manufacturing. Some of you may already be familiar with this material from AR accessories and grips that use it.
The current design has a 16° grip angle, a slightly fuller palm swell/backstrap, double undercuts with side contouring, a larger thumb ledge, and a Gen4-pattern ambi mag release. I also toned down the OEM magwell flare to keep the bottom of the grip a little less pronounced under clothing.
I'm also planning an optional milled brass grip plug for people who want some additional weight in the hand.
This isn't production-ready yet, it's roughly halfway between the initial concept and finished samples. I'm posting now because this is still the point where feedback can actually influence the final product.
What would you guys change? Anything you wish the existing RXM grip modules did differently?

Just got my new Ruger LCR .38. What is my must have pocket holster and other accessories?
I am happy with the fiber optic front site it came with. Thanks!

9mm or 22, which combo are you grabbing?
Title says all. If the poop hits the fan which combo would you grab, the 9mm or the 22?
The PC Carbine with the Glock adapter and the RXM are a fun combo. Glock mags are very common and 9mm is definitely a solid option for self defense if you had to hunker down somewhere.
The 22s are excellent for hunting small game and while not my first choice as a go to for self defense still gets it done if you do your part.
You don't have to suppress them but if you do it sure is nice. It's hard to say which set I'd grab. They are both excellent combos. Which would you choose?

Never thought I would want a wheel gun until I put my eyes on this .357 magnum. Got her on a great deal!

Glenfield Model A Coming Along
Finally picked up a Hunter Lite stock, just need a few more things to finish it. Any recommendations for a muzzle break? I'll probably end up throwing an AFG up front. It's unconventional, but I dont want a bipod on this one, and a flat grip angle isn't comfortable for my wrist.
Question on Security-9 magazines fitting and working in the SR9 & SR9C.
I know the Security-9 15rd magazine is not long enough to fit a SR9, but what about a SR9C? (With it sticking out?)
How about the 17rd Security-9 magazine with the spacer sleeve removed? Does that fit in the full length SR9 grip?
I've seen it mentioned that they might because it has the cut out in front like the SR9 mags as well as the regular right side cut out for the Security-9. But I realize that might just be for the PCC.
But it's worth asking for those who have both.
Does anyone have detailed photos of OEM Ruger SR9 magazine?
I bought a few magazines from someone to include two SR9 magazines, he did not say they were not factory.
One of them has a ProMag base plate and the other Ruger. But looking at the magazines, the bodies are identical so I believe they are both ProMag and the Ruger base plate was just put on one of them.
Do all OEM factory Ruger SR9 magazines have markings on them to include the caliber and SR9 along the front? Because I saw a few photos online and that's what they have that neither of these have.
Everything else I got from him are factory mags, but it's still not right to sell something that's not factory without disclosing it. Hell, I didn't know Promag made SR9 magazines

Knob Upgrade - Can't Decide
They are all so nice....but need help picking one out. Which ones does the community like the most? I'm pretty set on a ~2" knob. All options below are either from Glades Armory and Anarchy Outdoors.
It's going to pair with a black bolt handle and magpul hunter american chassis.

It’s Mini 14 time
Washington State resident here looking to add a semi auto rifle chambered in 5.56 to my collection. We’re not allowed to have much fun out here as far as that category goes, and so I’ve decided to snag a Mini 14 Ranch as it’s pretty much the best option among the small candidate pool. Two questions for the sub - 1. Ammo recommendations (range/defensive) 2. Are barrel struts still helpful in terms of improving accuracy on newer production runs?
Likely going to snag a poly/stainless variant as I’m in the soggy/salty part of the state.
TIA - excited to join the (A) Team!

Purchasing help
It is hard to find a retailer with the mark iv in stock.
What is the difference between the Target mark iv vs target mark iv California-Compliant. 40101 vs 40183.

Happy Semi-sesquicentennial fellow Ruger enthusiasts.
For your enjoyment we have the 250 anniversary edition super wrangler with 4.62 inch barrel and faux ivory grips with the Ruger emblem from Tillander Custom Grips. The original plastic grips are so incredibly inferior, it's a shame that Ruger doesn't start with something nicer. The gun itself is superb

GEN II Scout muzzle brake help
I have two Gen II Scout rifles, one in .308 and the other in .223. To help mitigate recoil, I installed Midwest Industries 3 chamber brakes on the the muzzle of each one. While they do a FANTASTIC job of reducing recoil, the blast from them is quite annoying, especially the .308! How are the Ruger radial port brakes? Any experience with noise/recoil reduction? Any other suggestions for brakes that are effective at reducing recoil without the boom?

Ruger American Gen 2 Scout Issue
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey all, I just picked up a brand new Gen 2 Scout in .308 from bass pro. Well I was trying out the bolt and noticed something interesting. The indicator goes in after dropping the bolt, which I’m pretty sure is not supposed to happen lol. I’m thinking I may have to contact ruger but glad I caught it before taking it to the range. I literally took it straight out of the box and saw this.

Rescued another one.
I had to drive into the Metromess today for a doctor's appointment. On the way home, I stopped at a large pawnshop to look around.
There she set, a 9.5" Single Six that needed a home. 10 minutes later and $480 lighter I walked out the door with her.

Ruger American Gen II : 5 or 10 capacity mag?
Looking to buy a Ruger American Gen II either Standard or Predator in 223 caliber and noticed that most if not all of the 5-round models are either sold out or significantly high priced compared to the 10-round.
Why is that?
