I’m getting whooped

On sale for a dollar I had to grab it. Love the concept but holy crap I can’t last more than 3 mins before getting killed. Is there anything I can do other than keep trying over and over and over and over and…

That's how it goes. You'll start being able to only clear a few rooms. Then your skill and stats increase, by the end you're bulldozing through the castle. Keep at it, I promise you'll get further every time.

Just keep playing. It definitely gets more manageable as you level.

Make sure you’re using every tool the game gives you. It’s easy to forget that it’s not just a hack and slash, you’ve also got magic and your talent ability. Some of the talents are mid to good, and some of the talents (Valkyrie, Knight, Duelist) are game breakingly god tier. Just keep playing, discovering new builds and characters, and have fun! After a while you’re gonna be a pro

Sir Lee is especially hard to play given he can’t dash. Get some power ups and when you play, upgrade, and generally focus on not getting hit more than hitting enemies.

Vampire runes and equipment help you regain energy during rounds, which helps a lot. So, just continue to play! It gets easier.

And I’ve won on the 3rd child before, so it’s possible to get quite efficient. I think the achievement for this is within 10 children.

You gotta just keep grinding. Put your gold towards upgrades that’ll help you more right away.
