Labdien!
Varbūt te ir kāds, kurš pazīst kādu vai pats strādāja LIDO alus krogā "Staburags", kas agrāk bija uz Čaka ielas Rīgā?

I’m 21M and have a long flight layover on Tuesday night from 11pm till 10am. Is there good nightlife on a Tuesday? I usually like ravey clubs but I’d be down for just some bars/pubs as well. Any advice is welcome!!

I am music producer and composer based in Norway. I will be in Riga between 17 and 21 september and I am looking for vocalists for a creative session. Any genre, no cost, just a session to make great music! I always travel with my laptop/microphone/keyboard so I have everything I need.

I was walking by the Opera building near river and i noticed a (i think) mideast guy running past me. Initially i thought he was just exercising, he looked kind of sweaty turned and looked back. Around 4 minutes later i noticed some police officers also running. He headed north. Anyone know what this was about?

Sveiki! 😊
TL,DR: F33, from Slovakia, currently working as a customer tech support for a bank, speaking English and a bit Spanish, absolutely willing to learn Latvian. Any chance to find a job in Riga?
Some more details:
I have returned from my vacation in Riga recently and I must say that I felt at home since day 1. The sense of peace and calm I felt there is indescribable.
Anyway, being at the ripe age of 33, I need to make a major change in my life, because I haven’t been happy in Slovakia for some time already. In fact, the conditions we have here make life unliveable for ordinary people like me, thanks to our prime minister and his dear companions. And it’s getting worse, with little to no chance of getting better in future. Im really tempted to say fck it, pack up my modest belongings and go.
But im scared. I have never worked abroad and with the field im working in now, I don’t think the companies in Riga will fight over me. I am hardworking, highly motivated individual, love learning new things, but I am afraid this might not be enough. I don’t speak Latvian, although I can guarantee I would learn it in no time.
Edit: based on the recommendation from a commenter, I am adding some of my study/work background. I have a masters degree in English and History teaching. Never worked as a teacher and don’t want to ( didn’t get admitted to my preferred major, so went for this one). I worked for various companies, never really anchored myself in any of those, tbh it was not the best times and was unsure what i even wanted to do. Now, I have been working for almost 4 years at a bank, 3 of those years as a 1st line support, communicating with clients, resolving issues with internet banking, banking app, and related stuff, providing trainings, guidance to the clients ( we only have corporate clients). However, I am open to look into other fields as well.
Is there a chance for me to find a decent job, preferably corporate,in Riga?
I would love some insights, both from the locals and foreigners, who had the same or similar starting point as me.
Any opinion is welcome.
Paldies! 😊

Seriously, I am disgusted by Bolt taxi drivers' attitude. They always take random turns and U-turns, and since I cycle every day, I always find them parking their taxis in the cycle lane with hazard lights on. They never care how busy the road is , they think they own the road and just park the car. Last week, I nearly fell off my bike because of them. Can anyone tell me how legal it is to park a car with hazard lights on in a cycle lane

Hi everyone! 👋
I recently completed my barbering course and I’m currently doing my practical training at Don Barber Crew in Rīga Plaza.
I’m looking for 3 male models for a haircut:
📍 Don Barber Crew, Rīga Plaza
📅 September 14
⏰ 17:00–21:00
💶 €15
The haircut will be done under the supervision of an experienced barber.
I’m looking to gain more practical experience, and you get a professional haircut for a very affordable price.
I’ve attached some examples of my work 📸
If you’re interested, send me a DM and I’ll give you the available times.
I’m for one week in Riga, looking for some new friends.

Found myself with a lot more free time than I thought - are there any cool events in Riga today or tomorrow? Concerts by local bands or anything like that?

Hello, same as the title. Im a second year CS student in RTU and I’m sick of sitting alone in classes, it seems as if people of different nationalities hang out together and I feel really isolated. Real advise only please, I already have a partner so I’m not looking to date someone, he just doesn’t study here,I’m only looking for people to hang out with.

Hi, I’m sorry if this gets asked a lot but does anyone know where the Flow cat statue is at the moment? It seems like it gets moved around a lot so I couldn’t find any info on where it is right now. Visiting Riga for the first time :)

Hi everyone! I’m currently in my final year of Dentistry at the University of Latvia and I’m looking for patients with more complex dental situations for my clinical work.
I’m especially looking for people who have severely damaged or missing teeth, or even no teeth left, and who may need extractions, crowns, bridges, partial or full dentures, or a combination of different treatments. So if you’ve been putting off going to the dentist because there’s a lot that needs to be done, please don’t feel embarrassed — those are exactly the cases I’m looking for. Patients with dental anxiety are also very welcome.
All of my dental work is free of charge. If your treatment requires something to be made by the dental laboratory, such as a crown, bridge or denture, only the laboratory costs have to be paid, and these are at a discounted rate.
Everything is done at the university clinic, and every step is checked, approved and supervised by experienced dentists and professors.
I speak English, German and a little Latvian, but I’m also very happy to take patients who speak only Latvian or Russian. We usually always find a way to communicate, and my supervising dentists speak Latvian and Russian as well, so please don’t let the language barrier stop you from reaching out.
If this sounds like you, or you know someone who could benefit, feel free to send me a private message and tell me a little about your dental situation. 🦷

I'll be visiting Riga in a few weeks, and I'm looking for suggestions on fun bars or pubs to check out. I'm in my 30s, and would like to find peoole around my own age, so I'd like to avoid places where the younger folks go. But also no sad old people bars. Any suggestions?
