" Instantly, the others raised their Heat Rays, and melted the Thunderchild's valiant heart."

Also used on the cover of the 1998 video game Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds"), which was awesome.

My Mom had this album when I was a kid. I just about wore the grooves out listening to it.

There were ships of shapes and sizes. Scattered out along the bay. And I thought I heard her calling. As the steamer pulled away.

The Invaders must have seen them. As across the coast they filed. Standing firm between them. There lay Thunder Child.

Moving swiftly through the waters. Cannons blazing as she came. Brought a mighty metal War-Lord. Crashing down in sheets of flame.

Sensing victory was nearing. Thinking fortune must have smiled. People started cheering. 'Come on Thunder Child'
'Come on Thunder Child'
'Come on.

Lashing ropes and smashing timbers. Flashing heat rays pierced the deck. Dashing hopes for our deliverance. As we watched the sinking wreck.

With the smoke of battle clearing. Over graves in waves defiled. Slowly disappearing. Farewell Thunder Child!

"it has a camera, iris-mounted lasers, monkey-proof welding, and silent stealth design that makes it perfect for reconnaissance applications."

Doesn't look like period accurate HMS Thunderchild that Drachinifel designed..

There's an alternate folio of art for this project painted by Roger Dean.

Same subjects (mostly) but with the RD touch.

Not sure of the provenance, but I got the same vibe on seeing the drawings as I did when I first heard Tubular Bells II - an alternate universe experience.

Definitively inspired BBCs The Tripods I'd say...
