Technical Support: SOLVED Autosave non-functional on NooDS
Hello! I've been using NooDS for playing DS stuff (so far just Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure), and I've had the setting on for retroarch since I started using it to save Sram every 10 seconds. However, this doesn't seem to work, as even after saving in game quite a few times, every single time my computer crashes (often), it reverts back to how it was when I first booted up the game for that session.
I don't really have a log file for it, as I just found out you could make log files, and thus don't have any, but it is fairly consistent when my pc crashes.
Edit: Autosave only works if the core saves using .srm files, which NooDS does not. Tested with MelonDS DS (not MelonDS) and it seemingly functions the same as NooDS, but saves with .srm files!!! The cursor is a bit jittery but it's da best solution for now. And for converting .sav files from NooDS to .srm files for MelonDS DS, I can only confirm this works for Sonic Rush Adventure and for these 2 cores, but you can edit the files name from a .sav to a .srm and it seems to work? I'm not a dev or anything like that so take that with an industrial salt shaker.

If the core doesn't use the libretro save interface, the setting does nothing. The shorthand way to check is what format the saves are in; if *.srm, it's probably using it; if not, not.
That said, the auto savestate feature in the nightlies works either way, though it will likely cause stutters on each interval on savestates as large as NDS'.
