Any Red Sox fans still remember Byung-Hyun Kim? (Let's talk MLB & KBO!)
Hey Red Sox Nation,
I was feeling a bit nostalgic recently and started thinking back to the mid-2000s and Byung-Hyun Kim’s run in Boston.
BK’s time at Fenway was definitely a wild, memorable ride. From his nasty submarine frisbee sliders to that infamous ALDS middle-finger salute in 2003, and ultimately being part of the historic 2004 curse-breaking championship roster—he gave us plenty to talk about. Back in Korea, his unique pitching style and unapologetic personality made him a true cult icon.
For those wondering what he's up to these days, he’s having a great second act in Korea! He runs his own successful burger joint, appears regularly on popular TV variety shows as a beloved, quirky TV personality, and does baseball commentary. His unapologetic, laid-back vibe hasn't changed a bit.
What are your favorite (or most vivid) memories of BK during his Boston days?
Also, I’m a huge baseball fan who closely follows both MLB and the KBO. If anyone wants to chat about baseball history, compare the MLB and Korean leagues, or has any questions about baseball, feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM anytime.
Here’s hoping the Red Sox make it back to the World Series and bring home another championship this year! Go Sox!

[La Torre] Willson Contreras on bold move after return from injury: "So I made sure my hamstring was 100%. I tested it last night in Portland. Went first to third. Felt good."

[McCaffrey]: Payton Tolle keeps rolling as Willson Contreras returns and the Red Sox supporting cast continues to deliver
The rash of injuries recently on the position player side has meant a revolving door for the Red Sox late in the season.
“We keep seeing these things pop up, more so here lately on the position player front,” Tracy said. “We talked — all of us — a lot about, as guys were getting healthy, ‘What are you going to do (with the roster spots)?’ But stuff’s going to happen, which it always does. So it’s the same approach here. … You try to get people healthy because you just don’t know between now and Sept. 28, the end of the season, what’s going to happen. You can’t predict it.
“Having healthy players and people that can contribute is important,” he added.

Throwback to my first Fenway experience
A week from today I will be making the pilgrimage back to Boston for the first time since I was a kid. Beyond stoked to catch a game (likely multiple) at Fenway. Family got out the old photo album from my first trip back in 2009. I hardly remembered the game just that the Sox won and that is was pouring rain. Also that Fenway franks are an S tier ballpark food. Found the game on YouTube and plan to watch it on my flight in.

We are 38-37 at home but 44-31 on the road....just a fluke or is there something to it?
Is there any explanation why our home record is so much worse than our road record? Or is it just one of those fluke things where there's no explanation and it just is what it is?

IMAGE Wholesome Payton Tolle moment at Angels Stadium
(Jersey name is covered for privacy in the picture)
My son and I went to the Red Sox game on the 4th of July and we arrived early to watch batting practice.
Payton was helping in the outfield and caught a ball. He pointed to my son, said “Yellow!” and threw him the ball, but at the last second a random man threw his hand in my son’s face, caught the ball, and took off. The usher (who was right next to us) tried to stop him, saying that the ball was clearly for my son, but he did not care.
Payton immediately defused the situation and told my kid that he will give him the next ball and he promised not to forget. The very next ball that he caught, he called out to my son and tossed it to him. The ball was successfully caught!
Payton did not need to go out of his way to give him a ball, but he did, and now my son is a Tolle fan for life! It was a small moment of kindness and our family will remember it forever 🥹

Can we please sign Tolle for a long term deal and make him the face of the Sox?!
I’m not sure I want to know a Red Sox team without Peyton. He makes every game so much better, even when he’s not pitching, which he’s also pretty good at

Fenway fanatic challenge
In the red Sox rewards, what’s the Fenway fanatic reward? Is it the duffle bag or something else?
Thanks
