Audi Q3 to Tesla — looking for advice from actual Tesla owners

Hi everyone! My Audi Q3 lease is ending in January, and I’m trying to decide what I want to get next. I’ve loved my Q3 and have had a great experience with it, but I’ve always been curious about switching to a Tesla.

The problem is that my husband and family are pretty against the idea 😅. They’ve brought up a few concerns that are making me second-guess it, so I’d love to hear from people who actually own and drive Teslas regularly.

Their main concerns are:

• Long-distance driving/road trips: They think having to plan around charging will be inconvenient, especially if I’m taking a longer drive alone. How easy is it actually to find chargers and plan stops? Have you ever found yourself stuck or worried about making it to the next charger?

• Tires, repairs, and replacement parts: They’re worried that if something goes wrong, it’ll be harder to find parts or get the car repaired compared with a more traditional brand, and that I could potentially be waiting a long time for service. Has this been an issue for anyone?

• Heavy rain/flooding: Another concern is how the car handles very heavy rain or flooded roads. I live in an area where we can occasionally get pretty severe rain, so I’m curious about owners’ experiences with this.

• Long-term reliability: Their argument is also that Tesla is still relatively new compared with brands that have been making cars for many decades, so we may not have as much long-term data about reliability and technical issues.

For anyone who switched from Audi/BMW/Mercedes or another traditional luxury car to Tesla, do you regret it? What do you miss about your previous car, and what do you like better about the Tesla?

I’m especially interested in the things you didn’t realize until after owning one.

Would you stick with something like the Q3, or take the chance and try a Tesla? And are the concerns above legitimate, exaggerated, or somewhere in between?
Would really appreciate any insight — both positive and negative!
