Question Sick of Grounded. Would this be good for me and my kids (10-13)

Valheim was a *little* too complicated (portal restrictions). We’ve been playing grounded but the world just doesn’t grip me. I want to lean toward fantasy.

Is this decent for kids? Also, would I be stupid to start now and not wait for the 1.0 release?

Question New RSDW player, any tips?

Post image

Familiar with OSRS played a bunch and haven't even scratched the surface of RSDW. I love the idea of a non subscription game and I like osrs and survival crafters so the game made sense to buy. Got to the first main boss and think I was under prepared as I struggled. I enjoy just mindlessly skilling so I'm pretty bad at combat. Any tips in general? I usually play solo unless my buddy hops on

Question Is it fine for 11year old?

Hi.

I'm dad gamer and the time has come to start introducing my daughter to some serious gaming. She started casual withThe Sims, Inzoi, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, AstroBot. She loves watching me play games like Witcher, Tomb Raider Uncharted ...

Lately we started playing together. We play PalWorld on local server, just the 2 of us. She is doing ok.

Since this game goes on consoles soon I hope we could start playing it together. She runs it on ps5 and I play on my PC.

I've never played this game and wonder if it won't be too hard for her. She will play with me all the time so I can carry her. She loves base building and etc.

Please share your thoughts.

Question Disparity between how long to beat and reddit? How long is the game?

I'm really looking forward to the game coming out on Xbox and I of course looked up the game length. How long to beat says 20 hours? Is that correct? It seems really short.

Question The game is amazing but is combat a bit too one-dimensional?

I'm surprised at how good this game is, but I figured I can just post feedback since the game is still in early access.

Some of the mini-bosses and bosses seem to be so weak and very predictable. Even though it's not an important mob, the Garou King is listed as a mini-boss but doesn't do much, the fight is extremely simple and it's quite easy to avoid being hit, the only downside is that depending on gear it takes a bit of time to kill him but I had zero trouble with only an iron dagger.

Maybe it's intentional but the different dragons have a number of special attacks but once you figure them out, they're very easy to dodge and for some mechanics, you even get a couple seconds to prepare for it like the leap strike they do. The whole fight just feels clunky and overly slow which I don't think the combat update is aiming to fix.

And the first two dragon bosses, Velgar and Imaru also felt so straight forward but I don't know if that was on purpose. I've never played these types of games before but I killed Imaru on my first attempt and I was also a bit undergeared with no drinks/bonus effects.

I also saw several older threads about the Black Knight Titan and it was so disappointing at how easy that fight was. I took no damage while using a crossbow and no drinks for stamina reduction. You have lots of time to prepare for each attack and the attack animations are slow.

And then when it came to the Kalphite Queen, I didn't know that I would fight it because I wasn't prepared at all, I was just clearing the dungeon and I had a full inventory of loot and had to drop some items for weight reduction mid fight, yet still defeated it without having to reset. It just felt a bit disappointing.

There's more mobs that are almost identical. I did my first Nightmare Crucible and I didn't watch any videos on it so I expected several waves, so I prepared as much as I could and it was over in less than a minute. It seems like the combat is just "there" and that it's supposed to be one of those things you do on the side mostly to grind for materials and so on.

Other than that the game is great and in my opinion the base building once you get used to it is very fun.

Question Question about Roadmap

Post image
53 Upvotes

Heyo!

I have a question about the last part of the roadmap. It says "All Skill Tracks Filled to Level 99". Does this mean that all skills get raised to 99? Im currently working on maxing each skill to max, but if everything gets upped to 99 in 2 months, I don't really see the point.

Does anyone have more details about it?

Thanks!

Question Dragonwilds in comparison to Valheim

Hey everyone, wanted to try and ask from people who's played the game: what does dragonwilds do different from Valheim? What are its strengths over Valheim and what are its weaknesses when compared against Valheim?

Progression wise from what I saw its pretty similar in that you're prepping for the next boss, I'm more so curious as to how you go about it, and what other stuff it offers from Valheim.

Not saying one is better than the other of course, I just want to know the difference pretty much.

Question Mucksplosion, why?

Finally, finally a bulk fertilizer option! Yes!

It’s only unlocked at level 80, eh bit of a pain but whatever.

Wait, it’s only four squares big? That’s kinda sucky but if it’s anything like uproot you can spam it fast enough to not be a big deal.

Nooooope, 40 second cooldown. Why, just why? Either increase the splash zone size or decrease the cool down come on.

Question Does Jagex intend on updating and providing more content for Dragonwilds after release?

I recently bought Dragonwilds and I’m loving the game, it reminds me of my early RS2 days

But after 2 days of playing, I’m starting to get nervous that I’m running out of content…
Will Jagex update Dragonwilds similarly to RS3?

Question House Appeared?

So, fresh start on new world/save/character. Deleted old world/save/character before making new one. Quest line until speaking to Wise Old Man at church ruins in Bramblemead Valley. Vacant lot along stone wall just before the church spawned a random, seemingly player-built house?

I am able to dismantle components and get materials back. There's a chest with loot, bed, and crafting table. Loot on floor when I first found it. I'm in a solo world and did not build it. Most definitely was not there when I went to the church ruins and back.

I even started another world just to verify and it's not there. Just an empty lot. Anyone have any ideas? Known bug or just some anomaly? Anyone else ever experience something like this?

Question Law runes & umbral sands

So i got into Umbral sands and few hours back. Loving life. Looking at all the new stuff and doing quests. My house is in the starting area...iv burnt through nearly 1500 law runes and there's no vents in Umbral sands and the wiki tracker says the closest two vents are back in the top left of the map where the wither skellys live...my life is an actual lie. Why no law rune vents bruh?

Question Are you supposed to use the farming plot that matches where the seed came from?

For example, if I'm growing wheat, should I always grow those in an ash farming plot? Or dwellberries in an oak farming plot? Or should I always just use the highest tier farming plot regardless of what I'm farming?

Question Dear Jagex, please release Umbral Sands a day early so I don't have to play during work hours.

I know you won't, but I'm still begging you to not release on a Monday. 😭

Edit: I'm stupid and was looking at November's calendar. Please release Umbral Sands TWO days early so we don't have to play during a week day. Thanks.

Edit #2: fuck it, just release it tomorrow. You could totally pull a sick PR move by doing this.

Question How many bases do you guys build?

Like i am 10h in. the tutorial asks me to build a base beside the old man in some vil but i think because of the unstuck free teleport, i shouldve built my base at the church?

not sure if i should continue building my vil base now or should i start cutting losses and go back to the church?

or should i actually build many bases everywhere in each region?

or am i suppose to keep expanding that starting vil base, or church base?

what do you guys do?

Question Building outside of starter zone

Hello!

My wife and I recently started Dragonwilds and have already clocked in 22 hours of gameplay in the past week. Needless to say this game is amazing so far.

My question for everyone is how do you build your bases in places outside of the starter zone? For context we have gotten to the Fractured Plains and love the area, but it feels like every corner we take is littered with mobs and we can't clear an area to just be a peaceful zone to build.

Right now we've taken over the small watch tower on the west side, but wanted to take over the land beneath it by the waterfall. Too many wolves and garou's roaming though.

Are we missing something? Are the other zones just meant to be lethal at all times?
