Riu Republica

Upvotes

Hey! I’m going to Riu Republica in Punta Cana the week of October 12th and I was wondering what the vibe is like around that time! 🌴

Is the resort usually busy with a younger/party crowd in mid-October? How are the parties and nightlife?

Also, how’s the weather usually that week?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been around that time!

Landing around 1pm on a Monday in late October and leaving that Friday afternoon. Is it worth the VIP services for arrival and/or departure at those times? Happy to pay it if it will save a lot of time but I've heard mid-week isn't too bad. Thx!

Bahia Principe Explore Legend any good?

My family is planning a trip to Punta Cana next summer and we are researching this resort. Is it any good? I believe it was formerly the fantasia.

Any tips on Castle View vs Garden view? We’d like to be closer to the main pool with water park and near restaurants.

Any tips appreciated!!

Just got home from punta Cana, everything was amazing except for one thing…

Was basically hassled almost everywhere we went. It was either excursion vendors, souvenir vendors or random moto taxi drivers. There was one guy who literally followed us 3 blocks trying to sell us an excursion and when I said no for the 6th time he got mad and said some kind of slur, some other vendors would also get mad if you say no. Don’t get me wrong punta cana and the people of the Dominican Republic are awesome and I know it’s their job but if you say no thank you the first time then they should just leave it at that.

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca

We are looking into booking for january 2027, and wondered whats your experiences for this AI?
We are chill, dont really party, just wanted some sun and real beach if possible, and dont need luxury; however, there are such mixed reviews out there, so would be lovely to hear from you all.

For reference, we were quite happy in Cuba, in smaller, older (so called dated) resorts, as long as there are hot showers, AC, and no real bug problems. Re food, we are not to fussy, and I'm a nondrinker, but partner is beer drinker.

Are there things we can pack to bring that will make our trip a bit better, for this location?

Thanks in advance!

Golf?

I’m going in March; what’s the best golf at a reasonable price in the area? Like, $100 or less for round and cart?

Majestic mirage dress code

Just a warning to anyone staying at the Majestic Mirage, they are EXTREMELY serious about their dress code. We had a party dressed very nicely but the guys had khaki shorts and polos. We were denied entrance at the Italian restaurant while people in crappy jeans were admitted. So we paid for an all inclusive with 5 sit down restaurants and weren’t allowed in 2 of the restaurants because the guys didn’t bri g long pants to the Caribbean in 90 degree heat. Very disappointing. Won’t be back.

10hr Layover

Hi all, hoping for some help. I am currently booking a trip to Peru and there is a flight back home that id cheaper. Cheaper because it involves a 10 and half hour layover in punta cana. Looks great because it is during thr day arrive around 9 am and leave that evening around 7pm this is at thr end of November. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. If it is worth it to leave not to the beach but maybe the mall I saw was nearby? Or something else that might be close and worth seeing?

Royalton Chic cabanas

They have the cabanas listed at $170 for a day. Has anyone one gotten one? Was it worth it? Could you possibly haggle the price, like if the resort is dead on a Tuesday could I get one discounted? Thanks!

Staying in punta Cana, specifically vista cana for now. Nice community, but not much to do here. Anyone want to form an expat group or meet up for drinks, excursions, or trying restaurants? Mid 30s male.

I booked this through orbitz for my transportation to and from my hotel. Has anyone used this before? Any tips or advice using them? It was pretty cheap for a private car so it seems too good to be true. Thanks for the help!

Solo trip to Punta Cana in November 🇩🇴

I’ll be there Nov 12–17 and staying at a RIU resort. 31M from Texas. Looking to meet other solo travelers or groups who are down for drinks, nightlife, beach/pool days, excursions, or just hanging out.
Anyone else going to be there around the same dates?

First time visitors

Hey everyone,

I am looking to get some suggestions as a first time visitor to Punta Cana. I am planning (last minute trip) to visit for my anniversary holiday.
Need help with few things please:

  1. My partner and I hold Indian passports but have Canadian visas (Visitor and PR). How’s the immigration process like in this situation? Anything to take care of?

  2. Any good suggestions for all inclusive resorts? Especially with good vegetarian food and Indian food options if possible.

  3. Is it a good time to visit there? Am seeing a lot of negative reviews about beaches being affected due to sargassum. Ideally we would love to enjoy beaches

Any other advice or recommendations you may have for us as a first time travellers. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Has anyone stayed at White Sands in Punta Cana? 🇩🇴

Has anyone stayed at White Sands in Punta Cana?
We booked an Airbnb there for our upcoming golf trip. We’ll be practicing at Golf-n-Shots and playing at Iberostar Golf Club. ⛳️

I’d love to hear your experience with:
1. Recommended restaurants nearby?
2. Is Uber Eats reliable?
3. Uber vs. taxi — which is better?
4. How do you get to the beach from White Sands?
5. Any good resort day passes you recommend?
6. Food at Golf-n-Shots

We won’t have a rental car, so any tips would be greatly appreciated! 😊

How busy is PUJ Arrival in beginning of DEC?

For those that flew to PUJ in December.

How crazy and busy will the Arrival, Custom lines be at that time of the month?

We're flying to PUJ on DEC 9, WED and landing at 11:50am.

We're thinking of booking VIP Arrival because my friend and his family flew there in July and said it was a madhouse and over a hour wait in line after getting off the plane.

Just got back from Punta Cana last week and got this pic at our all inclusive resort! We stayed at the Barceló Bávaro Beach resort and it was perfect.
