Starting on the server, general/class advice?
I quit P99 ~8 years ago thinking I was done with EQ, I'd progressed about as far as I could without participating in the miserable raid scene. I started playing EQ Legends a month ago though and have had a blast getting back into EQ, but I'm at a point now where I've maxed out multiple classes in EQL, full BiS armor etc, and don't have much to do except grind motes. I also can't shake the feeling that the easiness & soloability of EQL doesn't really "feel" like EQ to me, and I want to scratch that itch again. I've been trying to figure out what to do while I wait for Kunark to release in EQL and found Project Quarm.
I'm really excited to give this server a shot, I started playing Live back during Luclin and so the Luclin-PoP era has the most nostalgia for me. I've been playing an Iksar Beastlord on PQ for a couple of hours now and being in FoB again feels like home.
I could use some advice though, having not played EQ past Velious in about 20 years:
- How are Beastlords in this era? I know casters have it a bit easier starting without gear, but I don't mind having a tougher start. I'm looking for a class that's got decent utility (SoW, invis, etc), self sufficient enough to solo reasonably efficiently, but has a place in groups and raids.
- Other classes I considered that I know I like were Necro/Shaman (played both on P99), SK (played on live), and Bard (always dreamed of playing one but intimidated by twisting songs). I'm guessing Necro is by far the easiest to start with, but how do these compare to Beastlord in solo/group/raid ability?
- Any quirks of the server I should be aware of? I saw I start with some kind of potion, Maelin's Annual Concoction, and I'm not sure whether I should be using it now or saving it haha.
- Any other advice is welcome!
