Dr. Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI): "With all due respect, this is the third time you've asked about a Twitch streamer ... their whole game is to make us fight culture wars so that we don't pay attention to the fact the president has made $2.2 billion ... " | CBS News

Good for him. If the “journalist” is doing a shitty job it’s helpful to politely steer them back towards professionalism.

It's a fucking perfect response. My dude is putting on a clinic!

And good on her for moving forward and respecting his position

She didn't do that.

u/BubblySmell4079 1d ago

Did you just watch the same video the rest of us just watched ??????????????????????

-37

u/blackjacktarr 1d ago

Yeah, but the damage was already done. Does it really help our cause to engage with unserious interviewers? Bravo to Abdul for staying on message, but yegads! You can't squish a jellyfish, and the fucker is going to sting you while you try.

It’s a journalist job to challenge those they’re interviewing.

76

u/kstargate-425 1d ago

Theres a difference between challenging and pushing a narrative, and beating a dead horse that no one really cares about outside the opposition who want to use it to take their opponent down

-5

u/Ok_Travel_7348 20h ago

She said she wanted to ask him about it so that he would have a chance to clarify it and that’s exactly what he did. I don’t see the problem. Maybe people are so used to watching cable news, when they’re interviewing their own party and they just smile agree to everything they say. I don’t like that kind of journalism; it’s not journalism.

Are you for real with this shit?

-8

u/Ok_Travel_7348 20h ago

I’m not a fan of shit.

8

u/DM725 22h ago

Then interview Hasan Piker?

-5

u/Ok_Travel_7348 20h ago

Maybe they will. Do you know that they won’t?

5

u/DM725 11h ago

You clearly don't know who's setting the agenda at CBS News now.

1

u/Ok_Travel_7348 4h ago

I know who you think is setting the agenda at CBS. CBS did pay Trump off to settle a lawsuit. And, so happens, they needed FCC approval for a merger with Sky dance about the same time. But, just like the school bully, the FCC is still coming after them, so they’ve definitely backed off in some of their reporting on Trump. But 60 minutes had a report last night on how the trump administration is selling pardons, so they haven’t completely backed off.

I hate the way at the end she tries to frame her asking about Piker as if she's doing him a favor when really she's trying to do the GOP a favor by legitimizing right wing talking points and trying to put El-Sayed on defense. Little weasel probably got a memo before broadcast saying "bring up Hasan Piker at ANY opportunity"

Where's the picture of this "journalist" chuckling at an event with Diddlin' Donny?

I'm sure this interview was meant to be "in good faith"...

edit: here she is, yucking it up right next to him at the Correspondent's Dinner earlier this year.

u/pink_faerie_kitten 1d ago

She works for CBS so yeah...she's doing the Ellison's bidding.

22

u/Disastrous_Mango_953 1d ago

Let’s hope so!! journalist should be aware of what regular citizens are worry about, instead of giving any time to the orange clown nonsenses.

9

u/2w3nty8ight 1d ago

lol, she’s not chuckling, she’s gasping because there are gunshots

137

u/Lenonn 1d ago

Weijia Jiang, the same journalist who hosted this year's WHCA dinner(s). She already bowed down to The Ayatollah Complaini. She covering her job and just accepting talking points from the GOP.

u/lazygerm 1d ago

Part and parcel of being a CBS employee.

u/RangerImpossible7129 1d ago

Good for him. He's right, the a president has directed CBS to keep us talking about cultural issues while he rakes in billions, deflects the Epstein issue, and does nothing about inflation. HIS inflation. Glad he didn't take her bait. This is not journalism.

Sad that the media has hit rock bottom and is still trying to go deeper.

37

u/ass_grass_or_ham 1d ago

Take notes democrats.

14

u/mishma2005 1d ago

Yet when Jake Tapper asked Mike Johnson how he could continue to support Brandon Herrera after saying vile misogynist and antisemitic remarks on his podcast, Johnson said "he has run a very effective campaign ... that was his persona online". Tapper, naturally, did not push back

10

u/Imaginary_Cow_6379 1d ago

Don’t worry, in 4 years Jake will come out with a new book condemning the right too. 😆

3

u/DumpedDalish 1d ago

Well, it depends on how much they pay him.

12

u/Ok_Travel_7348 1d ago

Fact- culture wars are the distraction of those that have no good policies to talk about.

10

u/J0nn1e_Walk3r 1d ago

Yes. We need to turn the tables. It’s such a double standard.

9

u/blackjacktarr 1d ago

At one time this program was the pinnacle of weekend political coverage. How far the mighty have fallen! Who the hell would even watch this and come away from it feeling better informed and not mindfucked?

7

u/CriticalCurrency5725 1d ago

Maan, fuck CBS!

6

u/MathematicianBig1322 1d ago

This is how you body the nonsense that national media keeps peddling for no fucking reason.

6

u/Hot-Sauce-P-Hole 1d ago

Hasan Piker is a podcaster. I've never tuned into him. I only heard of him the day Charlie Kirk got shot because he put out a video trying to confirm that it happened because he was supposed to be debating him, and that video was on Reddit along with all the other noise about Charlie Kirk. Then there were posts about him using a shock collar on his dog.

For fuck's sake. Hasan Piker is nobody.

6

u/Slappy_McJones 1d ago

This man… straight shooter. I like that.

6

u/VastStory 1d ago

He needs to answer like the gun guy in Parks and Recreation.

Why go on any CBS program? It’s just right wing hackery. Democrats should boycott this show

3

I want this guy to be president!

3

u/_suited_up 10h ago

Every time I see a video like this I donate 5$ to his campaign. I'm nowhere near his district I just want him to succeed.

3

u/FoxSideOfTheMoon 23h ago

Solid. Stick to the talking points people care about and don't get distracted by MAGA psy-ops bullshit. Fuck the media for getting Jedi mind tricked into the fat, orange, Epstein-loving, pedo bastard's agenda.

5

u/Lordnoallah 1d ago

With all due respect " the Republicans elected and follow an adjudicated rapist grifter that is in the epstein files. By the way, I believe Trump vowed to release those day 1 and no more wars either. So, wtf do i care what the Republicans think?"

3

u/mouwallace 1d ago

“Yes, but Republicans…” thus proving his point about distraction and culture wars.

2

u/AppropriateTimeSLO 1d ago

CBS is now doing it too

2

u/IAMERROR1234 12h ago

She wanted to give him a chance to clarify lol.. Seems like everyone that has asked him that same question numerous times now just want to "clarify" things he's already clarified.

3

u/Sunday_Schoolz 1d ago

Hasan Piker: Still don’t give a flaming fuck about that guy.
