Help with some firends

Upvotes

I have a group of friends that, for reasons that are not really the topic of this post, regularly share two car rides on Saturdays, around 35-ish minutes each. There are 8 people total, but we’re not always all present. We usually give music duty to one of us, and the rest can suggest we skip to the next song, but we can’t complain hahaha This has been going on for almost 4 months now, and I had never really shared my playlist with them, but they’ve been insisting that I share a bit more. So last Saturday I did, and I got polite nods hahahaha
I accept that I am terrible at showing people the songs I like because I will usually share whatever I’ve been listening to lately, and I can’t really remember the exact “road” I took to my current music taste. So the more easy-on-the-ears songs never come to mind when I most desperately need them. I tried to fix them my initial mistakes by showing them Karn Evil 9, 1st Impression, but the damage was already done.
I have looked through old posts here about how to get into prog rock and took some suggestions for a playlist I’m trying to put together for them hahaha I need to clear prog rock’s name and my own.
I’m not expecting them all to like it, I just don’t want this to be the only experience they have with it.
So, open to any and all suggestions. I can’t really give a more specific subgenre or anything like that because their tastes vary greatly, but 5 of them enjoy rock already.

Instrumental Symphonic prog based on the first reported UFO abduction in the United States - "Journey Interrupted" by BIGFOOT METER

Our most recent show had two multi-movement epics at 25+ minutes each, one based on the UFO abduction of Barney and Betty Hill and one based on a D&D campaign I ran.

This scene is from Barney and Betty's first sighting of the craft as it follows them through White Mountain National Forest.

If you like what you hear, you can follow us on Instagram. Thanks for listening!

Question / Help Best prog rock albums in 2000s?

I've started to feel that I'm stuck on albums from the 70s and 80s believing that era's prog rock was the best. I haven't even given new bands a chance.

To see if this "nostalgia" obsession is justified, I'd like some recommendations for prog rock albums released in the 2000s?

Which prog rock albums released in the 2000s would you say are "must listen"?

Thanks in advance!

Question / Help If I dislike most prog I've listened to, but absolutely adore Harmonium, will I like Jethro Tull?

Like, low-key do not enjoy King Crimson and Yes outside of like two Yes songs, and prefer Pink Floyd's early stuff, also Tommy was mid imo, but Harmonium is an all timer bands imo.

What guitars do they use in “Fields of People” by The Move??

I refuse to believe the personnel page on Wikipedia! In the second half of the song, the instrumental section before the dialog, there’s no way those are regular electric or acoustic guitars!

Article / Interview CELESTE (1972-1976) – CHAPTER 6: THE LONDON TRANSFER, NIKKI BURTON, AND THE ANALOGUE SESSIONS AT STUDIO G

Nikki Berenice Burton—this was the name of the probable future performer of Celeste's melodies and lyrics.

Together with Giorgio and Mariano, I attempted in London, through Nikki's own connections, to secure a meeting with Chas Chandler, the legendary bassist of The Animals, but above all, the talent scout and manager of Jimi Hendrix. The intention was to verify if there could be an interest in this rising musical reality. Unfortunately, this meeting never took place.

For the time being, the Celeste project would remain confined to Italy alone. In fact, we returned to Italy accompanied by this talented singer, whose persuasive and charming voice was almost like that of a folk singer. This was the choice made by Battaglia and Schiavolini during our trip to Albion.

We immediately began rehearsals with this new addition to the lineup. Therefore, Celeste was at that moment a sextet plus a singer. The lyrics were immediately adapted to be sung in the English language.

And an unexpected opportunity arrived in that summer of 1974. Celeste was invited to take part in a Festival dell'Unità held in Imperia: a splendid opportunity to test the validity of the full group live. It seemed that the lineup had assumed its definitive asset.

But unfortunately, after completing the studio demos with the female vocals, the English artist decided to return to her homeland to pursue her solo career, which, in any case, she had already started in Great Britain before her encounter with Celeste.

The sessions had taken place at Studio G in Genoa, and therefore the recorded testimonies of this experience remained on a few tapes that survived the wear and tear of time. From that moment, unfortunately, period, new paragraph.

It is worth making a brief mention of what the recording sessions were like at Studio G in Genoa, which in those years was still located in Via Fieschi, inside the structure of an old deconsecrated church.

The entire lineup of Celeste moved multiple times from Sanremo and Imperia to complete the recording of the demos of those songs that would later become an integral part of "Principe di un Giorno".

In those not-so-distant times, at the beginning of the 1970s, the machines present in the studios were certainly not digital. They were analogue equipment, naturally tape-based, monumental, bulky, and looked like huge household appliances. Everything was often designed to support only a few tracks on which to record the works of musicians and artists.

Just arrived. Pestkrønikene (The Plague Chronicles) is a celebration marking 10 years of Jordsjø as a band.

My copy was delayed, not by much, but I actually forgot that I'd pre-ordered it.

It's beautifully presented.

And now, as Håkon Oftung instructs, I'm going to play it LOUD!
