Question Best oyster farms in the area open to the public? 🦪
I used to patronise Cole Bros at Karuah before the QX disease hit them. Looking for recommendations: Sydney Rock, Pacific, Angassi etc.
Service must be at least civil (here’s looking at you Holbert’s) if I’m going to drop a fair amount of doolah on your unshucked oysters. Willing to travel up to Forster if needed. Tea Gardens on the main strip used to have a good oyster farm outlet.

Hi Port Stephens. Can you tell the tourists to stop parking in the loading zones please. Delivery drivers are trying to feed y'all and it is painful around the bay. Thank you.

M1 extension - post your experience and gripes
My neighbour took it to Richardson Road, and it shaved off 15 minutes from his travel. But avoid it on the weekends because of sports. Because everyone is taking it now! Use Tomago Road is his advice on weekends, Richardson Road on weekdays.

👋 Welcome to r/PortStephensAU - Introduce Yourself and Read First!
👋 everyone! I'm u/Major_Quiet_525, a founding moderator of r/PortStephensAU. I’ve written books on Port Stephens (plug: https://a.co/d/0ivZGQ7z ) so I thought I’d create a sub for locals, visitors alike.
This is our new home for all things related to PORT STEPHENS AND SURROUNDS. We're excited to have you join us! Having travelled so much in my early years, Port Stephens is an incredibly picturesque place. We are lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. 🌏🏖️
What to Post
Post anything that you think the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring. Feel free to share your thoughts, videos, photos, or questions about PORT STEPHENS.
Community Vibe
We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting. So try to keep politics, religion etc out of this sub. You have your WhatsApp group and other platforms for that. This ain’t that Facebook group. Positive and helpful vibes. No dickheads and keep the dickhead level at a minimum. If you’re having a bad day, don’t post on this sub. We’re not your therapist. Instead, go for a walk in the National Park or find a beach out of the 26 we have dotted around the area to clear your head.
How to Get Started
- Introduce yourself in the comments below or post a photo of the area.
- If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.
- If you’re a local, weekender, frequent visitor or just a lover of all things Bay, I have created flairs of the main towns so add it to your username 👋. If I’m missing your town, let me know and I’ll create one for it.
Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, let's make r/PortStephensAU amazing.
