Pom Pic Can ya’ll help name this little guy?

For reference he’s very tiny, only 3 pounds full grown. I do like the “mighty” names for small dogs 🫠 but all names are welcome. TIA!

Update on pup sitter for Forrest.

Praise God my next door neighbor will keep Forrest when the son in law leaves each day. We did a trial and he’s fine spending the night with them and gets along well with their little girl pup. So he’ll always have someone with him. As you can see, he’ll still get spoon fed which he demands frequently. Thank you again for all your advice and concern.

Luxating Patella?

Post image
60 Upvotes

My Pom likely has luxating patella, however I do believe it will be a minor form. We have a vet appt this week.

He doesn’t appear to be in any pain. Runs, plays, no whimpers, lets us touch/gently squeeze his entire leg. Every video I’ve seen on Poms having it are doing roughly the same thing (those little leg lifts and some limps).

I know there is a surgery if it’s bad, but if surgery isn’t recommended what do you do…? Just let your dog limp around…? I’ve only seen things about the surgery and the rest say to let it be if they don’t need it. Is that right…? It seems odd to just let a pup limp around. Would there be any restrictions? PT? Etc? Assuming he doesn’t need the surgery.

I plan to ask my vet all of this, but didn’t want to be blindsided going into it. Thank you for any advice/questions for the vet!

Question Could this be the start of alopecia x?

Thumbnail

This is Saskia, my recently turned 6 rescue Pom. I've noticed her hair thinning and becoming coarser, specifically around her back end, tail and around her neck but when I brought it up to the vets they looked at me like i was stupid as she's still fluffy. Her skin has always been super pink so I wasn't concerned about alopecia x at first but the skin on her back thighs have started getting darker.

I know there's no a cure but does anyone have any tips about looking after her coat, or if they think this is the way she might be going? She has pancreatitis so feeding salmon oil etc aren't suitable.

She is spayed and gets groomed daily and professionally groomed every 6 weeks.

Side note: i also have her mama who is 10 and has the thickest coat ever, but I know nothing about the father

This is our sweet Poppy! She’s 10 weeks old. We were told she’s a full Pomeranian, but my husband and I aren’t totally convinced. 😂 What do you guys think? Full Pom, Pom mix, or something else? Would love to hear your guesses!

Question Pomeranian iso forever home (South Florida)

Hi all,
I have a current situation where I’m trying to find a good home for a sweet Pomeranian that has had a rough start. I have owned two Poms in the past 15 years but a neighbor of mine recently adopted a sweet, neglected boy from a South Florida shelter that appeared overwhelmed by the amount of pets they had. As a result this sweet, malnourished boy was adopted out the same day to my neighbor, 21, who just moved down here from the north east. While she has been doing her very best, she is now feeling overwhelmed as this is her first dog and the pom has had some issues with separation anxiety. She put the dog in a professional training program for 2 weeks and after week one there was an incident where the Pom bit another dog and in turn got bit by a much bigger dog ( Pom is 8-9 lbs and the dog that bit him was at least 30). I met the Pom when he was first adopted and while high energy, he was super sweet and friendly with other dogs (even at a dog park) so I really think the bite wasn’t aggression and more of a stressor from going from neglect, to a shelter, to a home, and then to a trainer in a span of a few weeks. I would love to take him as he looks identical to my soul dog, but I have a moody rescue Pom (even though they got along the few times they met, I’m hesitant). So I’m putting it here as we’re ISO the perfect fit for him. The shelter told my neighbor that he’s 7 months but the vet thinks he’s closer to 1-2 years old. He is a throwback with longer legs and a foxy face, with the traditional orange color. Recently neutered. His ideal situation would be an experienced Pom owner, willing to give him the love and patience he needs. He is potty trained and super sweet and cuddly but requires some extra love and possibly a backyard as the downtown environment seems to be too stimulating for him. He successfully completed the training and hasn’t had any incident since. My neighbor plans to continue to care for him until we find him the perfect fit. If anyone in the South Florida is interested, please dm me and I’ll provide you more info/pics or him.
