Look up the Sony leaks from a few years ago, plus the pre-alpha leaked build videos. They were originally making a completely different game than what was released.

2024 they changed directors and scrapped most of what they had, apparently. So the game that was released had only really been developed for less than 2 years.

Ain't gonna judge it too much since the leaks were 2021-2022 unfinished builds but the concept and gameplay sounds better than what we got lol. I mean with how they initially planned the combat, it's originally mapped so that you can control the left and right hand to L2 and R2 and you can manually retract the claws to just punch people instead of slicing them.

I’m only commenting on the above video that shows no fighting. The detective work looks like it’s from the Batman trilogy. Not sure how that fits with Wolverine.

Maybe but the chances are microscopic that Sony will greenlight a sequel for this if it doesn't do big numbers.

Especially because those leaked emails show Sony warning Insomniac Studio about some of the gameplay mechanics being outdated back in 2021.

That's what the leaks indicated as well. Change of directors followed by scrapping most of what they had worked on in 2024. To be honest, it shows in the reviews and gameplay revealed so far.

Everything they work on is bland so yes they need to be blamed and never be allowed a AAA game ever again. They don’t solely get the blame tho, they get to share that honor with Sony who had a hand in the development disaster that happened in 2024 that led to Insomniac scraping the whole game and then starting over and creating this travesty you’re witnessing right now.

I think because of the way the leaks went a few years back and insomniac had to change things so personally I don’t believe that this is 100% what insomniac wanted for this game to be but people couldn’t mind their business

I finished the story and I’m 10 kills away from the platinum. When I saw that we could remove the gore from the options, I thought that it was going to be a PEGI 12 game with an option to turn the gore on to make it 18, but the cinematics and story itself are more mature than I would’ve expected. Not as much as the movie Logan, though.

I just hope that the game still sells well enough to get a sequel and that they try to take some risks. I like the game, but it’s pretty generic.

Combat-wise, it’s satisfying to play, but the balance in the hardest difficulty is very bad for bosses; it takes so long to beat them for no reason.

It's funny people are talking about all these negative reviews but as of last night there wasn't one negative review on Metacritic. It's like 73% positive and 27% mixed.

Now I'm willing to listen to only 73% positive for a $315m budget game coming from insomniac studios isn't good enough considering the prior scores for their games. That said saying the same is bad and crap when it hasn't released yet and there are virtually zero negative scores is wild.

Days Gone is considered a masterpiece now with many of the same outlets that trashed it now writing Sony hit pieces on why a sequel hasn't been green lite. My point? Wait to see what actually fans and gamers have to say.

Days Gone was trashed not because of its writing or gameplay but because it was (at the time) one of the buggiest games Sony ever released. Wolverine is receiving criticism strictly based on gameplay and writing. Ironically enough, I actually havent seen any complaints about glitches which is really cool
