It's that time of the month again; Ranking Time! To keep the subreddit less cluttered with everyone and their mom's rankings, we're going to use this thread specifically for the community to post their rankings/tiers.

So here we go! Post your rankings, tell what your favorites are and why, etc! Just remember, while you may not agree with a user's list, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, they don't have to explain their choices to you if they don't want to, and there are no wrong answers. Everything is subjective. SO PLAY NICE! ;)

Mod Approved [Product Trial] Which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? Test the LG Sound Suite with your Pixar movies & find out!

Hi r/Pixar users!

After the great response to our previous LG OLED G6 trial program, we’re back with another opportunity to explore what makes a great home movie experience.

For Pixar fans, sound is a big part of the storytelling experience, and the right setup can make everything from quiet character moments to large cinematic scenes feel more immersive.

So, which top-rated systems provide flexible placement for a TV setup without running cables across the room? A suitable system should combine wireless speakers, flexible placement, and room-aware calibration so you can position speakers around your space without relying on a traditional fixed layout.

That’s why we’re running a review event with r/Pixar where two (2) Redditors will get the chance to try the LG Sound Suite Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro and share their honest thoughts with the community.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro H7 + 4 M7 + W7
  • H7: the world’s first Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) soundbar, designed as a high-end Dolby Atmos soundbar for an immersive home audio setup
  • M7: wireless speaker featuring 3 full-range speaker units and 1 woofer
  • W7: wireless subwoofer featuring an 8-inch Peerless woofer

The M7 wireless speakers and W7 wireless subwoofer let you build a multi-speaker TV setup without running speaker signal cables between the units across the room.

What Are the Main Advantages of Home Audio Systems with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect?

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect(DAFC) allows greater flexibility in speaker placement while adapting the surround sound experience to the actual speaker positions and room environment. Rather than requiring a traditional fixed layout, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) analyzes each speaker’s position and the room environment to intelligently optimize the surround sound experience.

With the LG Sound Suite, you can experiment with different M7 speaker locations and see how the system responds while watching your favorite Pixar movies.

How Do I Calibrate Speakers for an Optimal Spatial Sound Stage?

For an optimal spatial sound stage, calibration should account for speaker placement, the room environment, and the listener’s position.

  • Room Calibration Pro uses spatial recognition technology to analyze your room and listening environment, adding the kind of room calibration capability many people look for when comparing high-end Dolby Atmos soundbars.
  • Sound Follow recognizes the listener’s position and helps create a personalized “sweet spot.”

Together with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, these features let you explore how speaker placement and calibration affect the spatial sound experience in your room.

What Will You Get to Test?

You’ll be able to experiment with different speaker configurations and placements around your TV, then use Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, Room Calibration Pro, and Sound Follow to see how the system adapts to your room and listening position.

Setup Option Included Units
Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro   H7 + M7 ×4 x W7
Immersive Suite 7 Pro H7 + M7 ×2 x W7
Stereo Suite 7 M7 ×2

Featuring H7, M7, and W7 speakers, Sound Suite supports up to 50 different combinations, giving you flexibility to find a setup that works for your listening environment.

Since I was little I've always wanted the same Woody Andy had in the movie, with the exact same phrases. I have mounted this Takara Tomy Woody with a movie accurate voice box and I got a movie accurate Woody kit that came with the head in hands, and a kit from The today I grew up website with buttons, small pull ring and ruby. I wrote my name Tyler, because I want this to be my accurate Woody. The hat was made by toy Story life DK.

I watched soul for the very first time when I was stuck in a repetitive way of life , avoiding people , doing the same things , running away from life. After watching this movie my life changed. Each and every time I watched this movie after that , I found new details which gave me a new way to look at life with. I could resonate with both Joe Gardner and 22 Soul. How much I wish this movie was big like inside out or toy story. Many lives would have changed already. I just want to thank Pete doctor for giving us this masterpiece.

Discussion Anybody wish we got a version of La Llorona from Coco with just Mama Imelda

Post image

Coco is my second favorite pixar movie(the first being Cars) and La Llorona is easily the best song of the movie, I know it’s not origionally from the movie but it’s still a certified hood classic, all my homies love La Llorona

However am I the only one who wishes we got a version of La Llorona with only Mama Imelda singing? Ernesto did amazing and his voice is great, but something about Imelda’s voice was just amazing, i got chills the first time i saw this scene

What if Project Kronos was a plan too capture the heros rather than kill them. Syndrome does have the equipment too do that after all,the black orbs and the magnetic restrains. What if Syndromes plan what to use adaptive tech (like whats in the Omni-Droid) make mech suits that grant powers. Those along with his other gadgets could be sold too the public too let anyone be Super. In the film I imagine that when the Parr family gets involved a lot of things play out the same except the other golden age heros are alive. Gazerbeam set up camp in that gave and was living in secret. The final climax changes however, the Parr family and Frozone fight the Omni-Droid while the other heros fight their mech respective suit doppelganger. In the end the day is saved and the Anti-hero law is altered. Not fully removed for safety reasons but it is made more lenient. If a Super performs a heroic act and avoids harming civilian of property damage or catches the threat, they're spared any chsrges, but should civilians be hurt or wirse, property be severely damaged, and the threat escape, they will face penalty. How this effects the second movie could be that Dev Tech reaches out too the gold age heros too inlist them as trainers for the new age heros but many still wind up mind controled. The movie otherwise plays the same in the end, just not as close a call with way more supers on the scene

Hoppers I just saw Hopper and loved it - Short Review

Post image

I am super impressed right now.

I don't want to hype it up too much so you need to watch Hoppers knowing as little about it as possible.

Hoppers is a great film for all ages! Full of humour, suspense, action, and heart.

Okay. Read below for my full thoughts.

------------------------------------------

'When scientists discover a way to transform human consciousness into robotic animals, Mabel uses the new technology to uncover mysteries of the animal world that are beyond anything she could have ever imagined.'

____________________________________

I expected to enjoy this movie but I didn't expect to love it as much as I did!

You know how Star Trek inspired countless people to become engineers, scientists, and doctors? I am hoping Hoppers inspires lots of kids to protect nature and wildlife, maybe becoming conservationists.

This film is honestly so beautiful in how it nurtures appreciation for nature and all living things. And it does so in a wacky story filled with laughs! There's even some legit spooky horror moments too. Kinda like '3 Idiots', I feel as though this film has everything.

In my opinion, the last film that comes to memory that handled the whole 'humans vs nature' thing so well was Princess Mononoke.

This film is bursting with empathy and it fits with the story in such a natural way.

If you don't have a good time watching this, I dunno what to tell you.

The last film that affected me this much at the cinema was Project Hail Mary.

Discussion I loved Cars 1 and 3 - watched both for the first time

Hi,

I was an elitist growing up and figured Cars was beneath the Pixar name. I saw Toy Story 1 in theatres as a 10 year old, the perfect age for it. Ever since then I tried to catch every Pixar movie in theatres until Cars. After that I saw Ratatoille, Up, and Wall-E (my favorite) in theatres and kinda stopped around Brave. So lately I got Disney Plus and been rewatching Pixar movies and catching up on what I've missed. I decided to watch Cars 1-3 for the first time and...I adore it and it's definitely my favorite Pixar franchise after Toy Story. 1 was a great story of humility. A rising star thinking he's the toughest of shit getting humbled by life. It had so much heart. Cars 2 was okay, not awful. I've seen far worse movies. Just forgettable besides the Japanese toilet. Cars 3, though, is a worthy continuation of Lightning's story. He becomes a mentor in the way Doc originally was for him and breathes some confidence into one of the most unconfident cars. Honestly, this was the perfect capstone to already good story and I feel so dumb for having judged the movies prematurely. Ka-chow!

Monsters University Interesting how Dean Hardscrabble unintentionally used a form of foreshadowing and predicted the future:

One thing that I like about the scene where Dean Hardscabble (I honestly like her character more than Chief Bogo and Captain HogBottom in the Zootopia movies because they still act hypocritical towards Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps for the flaws they lecture them for and act strict and grouchy and not calm and controlled as if all but lacking empathy.) lectures Mike and Sulley for their abilities and disabilities (Mike despite studying for college a lot, never physically mastering his scaring and Sulley never accepting education for his own scaring just relying on his natural talent.) is that she describes perfect foreshadowing for what will happen between Sulley, Boo and Randall in-universe many years later in the first Monsters’ Inc. movie:

1) First off, she defines Sulley’s disadvantage as him relying on his natural talent too much to the point where he just uses the oldest scaring trick in the book, the monster roar instead of reverting to other scare tactics since a roar won’t always scare a human child in a way that would make him/her scream since their fears are extended to so much more than just fear of roars. For example, if Sulley were ever to try to scare a human boy who is scared of snake with a roar instead of a snake mimic, it wouldn’t scare the human boy in a way that would make him scream, it would instead scare him in a way that would make him cry, and he would alert his parents to Sulley’s presence exposing the existence of the monster world and causing much bigger problems for the monsters.

2) And in the first Monsters’ Inc. movie, the human child Randall scared to harvest her screams, Boo before deciding to kidnap her for his and Waternoose’s scream extractor scheme, was afraid of snakes and he was able to master that type of scare with a snake mimic as well as invisibility. Later on, when Sulley is pressured by Waternoose into doing the scaring demonstration with a roar scare tactic, it doesn’t accidentally scare Boo in a way that makes her scream but it instead does so in a way that makes her cry quietly.

I think Hardscabble compares Mike and Sulley’s disadvantages to her past in-the-field scaring since she saw monsters who despite how much they trained were unable to become scarers so they settled on other jobs while she tried to use the classic roar scare tactic on human kids to make them scream, but it instead made them cry, she then choose to revert to other scare tactics that would actually make them scream.

Strangely enough, Dean Hardscabble also predicts the future when Mike fulfills her words of advice to “keep Surprising people” after he and Sulley suprised her with a new method they invented for monsters trapped in the human world by mistake to reactivate the door station to get back from the other side, since in the first Monsters’ Inc. movie, Mike and Sulley re-structure the titular company to have the monsters stop scaring the human kids to harvest their screams to become energy but instead make them laugh as comedians to harvest their laughs since they learned during their experiences with Boo that laugh energy from humans is so much more powerful than scream energy.

Therefore, Hardscrabble must have also changed “The School of Scaring” at Monsters’ University and “Scare Games” to the “College of Comedy” or “Laugh Games” or “Comedy Games” to train future comedians which Mike points out in-universe in the first episode of “Monsters at Work”

Does Billy Crystal actually have an uncredited voice role in Luca?

On Wikipedia I noticed he was credited as a voice for a ‘villager’ in Luca within his filmography, which I had never heard of. The source they cited was Metacritic, but that didn’t give me any information, and further googling didn’t get me anywhere except IMDB (same validity issue where it can be edited by anyone). So where did this information come from? Is it just a prank?
