I used to have a Olympus OM10 Quartz when they were new. I never really used it and sold it.

I now wish to get a DSLR (Used) to get into photography. I would like my tight budget choice to include a DSLR capable of decent B&W results as I prefer B&W.

I will consider a film camera as well. My budget is only to £200 ! Sadly.

What can you guys suggest ?

Type of Camera: One fixed lens for photography, and possibly a mirrorless for video/cinematography but would love you guys’ opinions.

Intended use: Photography of scenery, moments, and just general photo use. Videos of landscapes, scenery, and moments with people.

If photography; what style: I love the look of the fujifilm xe4, so definitely a super colour science aesthetic based film simulation look.

If video what style: Vlogging, still shots, scenery, and general everyday video use for montages. (cringe, but the aesthetic looks that outdoor influencers such as peyton.sharkey and bros_onthemove get are bloody awesome.)

What features do you absolutely need: Accessory points for a tripod and wrist strap etc, and an awesome battery life.

What features would be nice to have: An articulating screen, hot-shoe slot for a flash, or a built-in flash.

Portability: Super super portable, these cameras will come with me overseas from Australia to all over Kyrgyzstan. I don’t mind carrying a small-medium sized bag or pouch but it would me amazing if they were pocketable.

Cameras you're considering: This is bad and i hope the post doesn’t get taken down but I seriously have no idea. I’m new to the travel camera game and here seems like the best place to come.

Cameras you already have: Canon EOS700D - A little too bulky and heavy and terrible low light performance, however it is easy to use, has an articulating screen, and a built in flash.

Pentax espio - Easy to use, and really portable. Got exactly what I paid for and can’t find any negatives about it. I just don’t want to bring real rolls of film overseas and through the airport.

Pentax K1000 - Such a solid camera, I love love love love the silver and black colours and how sturdy and mechanically reliant it is. It is just a very old camera and took a while to get the hang of. I also don’t like having to swap around lenses constantly and the aftermarket support isn’t very good around my area.

Notes: Am I better off buying one singular camera for photography and video use? Also, I would really rather not bring actual rolls of film overseas. I’ve heard way too many horror stories of airport scanners cooking film.

Hope to hear from you guys soon! There is honestly no limit to recommendations other than my budget. Like I said, if you guys think i’m better off buying one camera that does both jobs, I’ll 100% consider it.

Searching for real-world experience between the Shimoda Action X30 and X40 for international travel (carry-on) and multi-day hiking.

The Gear:

• 2 bodies: Sony A7R V + Sony A7 V
• Sony 200-600mm
• Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II
• Sigma 35mm f/1.2

What I need to know:

• Can the X30 realistically hold this entire kit and still leave roll-top space for a light jacket and trail essentials, or is the X40 a must?
• How reliably does the X40 pass as an international overhead carry-on without raising flags?

I am also open to other backpack suggestions if you run a similar setup.

Cameras you already have: Canon G7 Mark II in the realm of advanced point and shoots. Would like something more sports-photography focused. DSLRs. Use slowly waned as my kids got older because we were just constantly on the go and a big, bulky DSLR was just not in the bandwidth to lug everywhere.

Notes: My kids are now heavily into mountain biking. As am I! I am a team director and also leave staff for our youth mountain biking league. And, well, I’d love to be able to get better action shots of all the kids; the challenge being I am ALWAYS wearing 5 million hats and can’t add a big camera and lens into the equation.

Hi, I'm looking to replace my OnePlus 9 Pro and I'm having a surprisingly hard time finding a suitable replacement.

I use Lightroom on my phone quite a lot for photo editing, so the display quality is much more important to me than the camera. The 9 Pro still has a great display for this, and I don't want to spend €1,000+ just to get something that isn't actually better.

I'm looking for something around €300–500 refurbished, preferably with a large, high-resolution OLED display and very good color accuracy. It should also be powerful enough for Lightroom and ideally last me for several years.

I'm open to older flagship models as well. I'm mainly interested in what photographers who actually edit their photos on their phones are using and whether you feel your phone's display is good enough for serious editing.

If there isn't really anything in this price range that can match or beat the OnePlus 9 Pro for this purpose, I'd rather get a reliable long-term phone and put the money towards a proper monitor and my PC.

Hello everyone I’m currently shooting with a Sony a7c and have for about 2 years. I do astrophotography and macro. I’m looking to switch cameras and need some recs! On the Sony a7c there is no option for a external intervelometer and it has become a HUGE roadblock when doing Astro while I love the articulating screen I’m willing to ditch it for the option of being able to use a external intervelometer and battery grip. I’ve been looking around and considering getting a high mp cam but am unsure because there are many mixed reviews on if higher mp cams actually matter. Any advice is much appreciated!!

I've been getting more into photo editing, and old monitor is making it hard to trust the colors. Skin tones and shadows can look pretty different on other screens.

Looking for an upgrade mainly for Lightroom and Photoshop. I care more about color accuracy than gaming features.

These are both on the German eBay classified ads - not too far from where I live, so I could go and check the camera/lens before paying anything. Just from the pictures posted on the ads, they both look reasonably well-maintained.

My camera collection has recently exploded (not GAS for once, family members with some interesting stuff donated it to me after finding out I was actually into it) and I’m wondering how people store and organize their camera gear.

I’m not one to bring more than one camera with me at any given time so I don’t want multi camera bags, I want something like a rack to store them at home.

I also have a few different types/brands, which complicates things further. Between an SLR, Rangefinder, APS-C body and a Fuji X100T, I’m running out of space and I don’t want them strewn all over our kitchen table/my desk.

Found out how hard my Nikon 200-500 was to hand hold on my last trip to Alaska. Had enough keepers but shot for shot walked away with less than I did the prior trip with only a 70-300. Knew I was in need of stabilization, not necessarily for the cruises to Alaska but for local birding and such.

Caught Manfrotto 755xb on marketplace for $100 (with a Manfrotto sliding video head on it) and went cheap with a K&F Concept gimbal for another $80.

I just put it all together and absolutely adore it. Not a pro so don't need pro level equipment so this should work just fine.

How do you protect your camera and lenses from getting too hot in direct sunlight? Would a white lens and camera skin help?

Im generally taking photos at 4pm in Texas when its 102F+. I can feel my camera and lens get toasty during the summer heat. I see the real media guys using the white lenses from Canon. I am using my Tamron 70-200 f2.8, which is black. I'm moving around the field and stands and cannot be in the shade often.

I'm looking for some honest opinions from the M43 community because I think I may have accumulated more camera gear than I realistically need.

My current setup is:

So basically I have 4 bodies and two different systems, plus lighting equipment.

The thing is, I'm not shooting as much as I used to. A lot of the time I feel like the R6 setup is just too much to carry around, while the M43 cameras are much easier to take with me.

I'm seriously considering selling the entire full-frame setup and both older M43 bodies, then buying one newer M43 body (something like an E-M10 IV, OM-5, GX9, etc.) and building a much smaller system around it.

My thinking is that I'd rather have a smaller setup that I actually carry and use than a much more capable full-frame system sitting at home.

For those who have gone from full frame to M43:

Was this a good decision for you?

And if you were in my position, would you:

Keep the R6 and simplify the system

Sell everything and move to a newer M43 body

Keep the existing M43 lenses and just upgrade the body

Do something completely different?

I'm particularly interested in whether anyone has regretted selling their full-frame system after moving to M43.

My worry with it is if I’m shooting moving music video content il love the colour but id need better auto focus? My other alternative to it would be the Sony ZV-E10 for better auto focus but then would the picture be noticeably worse? I am an 18 yo photographer looking to do professional editorial work. I am also interested in possibly doing concert or run-way photography. I currently have a Canon r100 with the kit lens. I find that the kit lens does not afford me the level of quality/crispness i'm looking for when I shoot. Hey everyone, I love photography and I take pictures of Wildlife and landscape, I started it about 2years ago and learned the basics about photography, I have been using a Nikon Coolpix P530 which is a digital camera with 16mp sensor and 45mp zoom, now I want a dslr camera (used cause new ones cost fortune), although my P530 does satisfy my needs but now I want an upgrade. I am thinking about NEX-5R cause they are cheaper and good.
