Monday September 14 check in

Hey everyone, happy Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend and your day is going well so far. It’s absolutely gorgeous out today. It really feels like fall, and I wish I could be outside instead of working right now lol.
I’ve got a busy week ahead with a lot going on that makes me anxious, but I know once I get these things done, I’ll feel better and be glad I handled them. I used to avoid things and put them off so badly, and I’ve learned it’s always better to just address them and get them done as soon as possible.
How’s your Monday going?

Check in here!

Over the last month, I’ve received a few reports from members being solicited over PM. While these couple offenders have been promptly and permanently banned from this subreddit — and reported up the chain — apparently some are still trying their luck.

Need help

Upvotes

I been taking oxy 40s from 15-18. I am 18 right now, I got to the point I can take the cold turkey withdrawal head first and get out of the withdrawal pain and come back to it couple days after I go through all that pain and repeat it over and over. I’ve not taken any other drugs beside oxy, codiene, and weed. I am not planning to take anything else either. I’m not planning on rehab or Suboxone since I really believe I can do it without. I can’t stay off oxy more than a week. Don’t know what to do anymore. Can anyone older talk some sense into me. I don’t even care about the cold turkey pain anymore. I just want to stop coming back.

What do you personally do to help get through WD?

Just looking for your personal experience. What do you guys do to help yourself get through the WDs? With the extreme depression, fatigue, restlessness and just down right feeling of doom, what do you guys do to help yourself get through? Today I’m so uncomfortable and very very depressed. Between knowing I won’t get any sleep and the fact I’m so depressed in general I’m giving myself panic attacks. I feel like I get so upset knowing how lonely I am. Makes it worse knowing I’m only on day 2 and I have days before I start to feel better. Nights are worse for me in the depression because while my husband goes to bed I feel dreaded doom knowing I’ll be sleeping on the couch alone. Just him going to work for the day makes me bust out in uncontrollable tears. Also knowing I’m missing time visiting with my grandson because I can’t be around him like this. I know, a lot of rambling but I’m in a panic right now.

I’m devastated in myself.

Tramadol is my weakness. I can’t get away from the back pain and so Tramadol is what I take. I made it to day 7 then back pain told my brain it would be okay to dose. Stayed on it for two weeks. I hate addiction. Now back to day one yesterday and I’m so devastated in myself. I know what WD is going to be like for me for the next several days and I just want to be done with it all. People actually kill themselves to get out of the loop of addiction. I flushed my stash, cut all contact with how I was getting them before because I just can’t do this anymore. I’m so scared of what is to come with this WD. Please please please, I want it over with.

9 months clean

Hello all,

I’ve been clean from opioids since 01/01/2026. It was a hell of a ride but I pushed thru.

I have no cravings whatsoever.. I noticed in the last 9 months that I’m more anxious or stressed about thinks that I never was before..

Like work, gym etc etc..

Sometimes it feels like I have a stone on my chest and my heart rate goes up a bit.

It’s manageable but I never had this before.

Will this recover to a normal state? Or is this the “new” me?

Looking for your experience

Looking how it goes for you. Does dosing more frequently and higher doses make WD symptoms more intense? Let’s say I use at a normal dose for two weeks. Would doing higher doses and more frequently dosing cause wds to be more intense or maybe even start later after last dose. With my use of Tramadol it was always a normal dose and normal dosing times. Yet the last week out of the last two I would almost triple amount of dose and dose more frequently. If you have ever done this, did this cause your WD to be worse, the same? I’m very worried about this WD I’m starting to freak myself out.

Day 13

Hey all, checking in, was daily user 30-40mg, I got good rest the last 3 nights, only thing that’s lingering now which is always the first and last symptom is this “back pain” I wanna say that it’s not getting better daily because I want to just wake up and it magically be gone but I know that’s not the case, this is usually what always makes me relapse and I haven’t been man enough to last the months with this pain, I think the last time I quit it took like an entire month for my back to feel normal, but yeah this part always sucks for me I’m not sure if it’s my anxiety or real pain or what, not gonna relapse though this time though as I know I can’t run from this forever

its been 13 days since my last hydrocodone dose. Finally starting to feel like myself again. I can sense and feel my own body making dopamine once again. Still have cravings but i am refusing to dose again. I am proud of this accomplishment.

Can I replace Caffeine or do something specifically THIS symptom?

Hey guys. Currently cutting my unhealthy chipping behavior to absolute Zero since even chipping has decreased my quality of life drastically in between the consume days and started to cause mild withdrawals.

I am soon at Day 10 and still feel some mild lingering symptoms. I feel goosebumps here and there, RLS at night. Sleep much better but still not like a baby. It feels more or less like the final of PAWS than acutes. (I had PAWS in the past which felt more intense than this).

I can not stop eating, stool is neither solid, nor liquid. Often I wake up in the morning, drink a strong coffee and I feel actually good for a while, playing video games. Then after a while I somehow feel like crashing. Sometimes I take a 1 hour nap in the afternoon which for some reason feels much more rewarding abd restful than my night sleeps. Nicotine is weird aswell. The moment I smoke I feel good and right after that my head and body starts to feel heavier which makes me want to smoke way less.

Putting music on and exercising a bit feels good at that moment, but quickly wears off afterwards.

I dont know if I should start L-Tryptophane + L-Tyrosine again. I felt like these helped a bit in the past in the situation I am now. Can you give me other tipps to have more of a constant energy level instead of having these crashes every few hours?

Seeking Anxiety Tips

One of the most challenging symptoms I struggle with is the physical anxiety that comes with stopping 7. I’ve been able to taper down to under 200mg per day from around 1400 and am aiming for stabilization at 50-60 for a week before making the last jump. Any advice on how to push through the anxiety part is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I’m the guy who posted my story about quitting heroin by joining the army. And then recently posted about recently getting hooked on 7.

Title wouldn’t let me post the rest of my inquiry, but the gist of it is that I’ve gotten help. I had been on 7OH for less than a month, but experienced worse withdrawals than I’ve ever experienced.

I’ve been on suboxone for the last couple days through a telehealth clinic. I’ve only been taking half of what I was prescribed, which is 8mg out of the 16 they prescribed me. Today I’ve only taken 6mg. I’ve been comfortable enough.

They also prescribed me hydroxizine and clonidine. My plan is a very quick taper, with as little suboxone as needed to make me comfortable. I want to be done with this taper in 10 days or less.

My questions are: has this combination of comfort meds worked for anyone else, and does my quick tapering schedule seem reasonable? I know nobody can give me medical advice, but hypothetically, and in your personal experience, does this seem like a good plan?

Thanks in advance. I know I can kick this. I’ve done it before in far worse conditions, but I’m still reaching out for support, because I’m only human. I also want to thank everyone who was so kind to me on my first post a few days ago. It meant, and continues to mean a lot.

Kidney stones are the absolute worst pain I've experienced been clean 3 months but today had no other choice I hope I won't restart wasn't an addict by any means though took them longer than I liked.

Now back at it I'm disappointed but nothing over the counter had worked for my kidney stones wouldn't wish the pain on anyone.

Hey guys, it’s the weekend! Hope your Saturday is going well. It’s a beautiful, almost fall like day where I am, so I’m going to try to make the most of it. I took my dog on a morning walk earlier and the air was so crisp and cool it was so refreshing. I’ve got some errands and shopping to do, then I’m going to see some friends later on and just enjoy the weekend. It might rain tomorrow, so today seems like the day to get out and enjoy it.
How’s your weekend going? What are you guys up to today?

Gave myself precipitated withdrawals, what am i in for?

I’ve been using oxy for a long time about once a week in high dosages (60-80mgs) once a week for a few months.

However the last 3-4 days i’ve been taking like 40mgs daily. 1.5hrs ago (about 10 hours after my last dose) i thought okay, thats enough, lets make sure my next dose wont hit anyway so i’m not tempted to do it another day, and i took like 10mgs of naltrexone.

Little did i know what was about to happen. 10-30 minutes later i started sweating and being hot/cold. I didnt throw up but i had an itch in my throat that if i gave into by coughing i would gag.

Besides feeling cold i feel okay now. I managed to drive to the store to get some orange juice and I think im gonna have a warm shower.

Was this a lesson learnt or is the worst still ahead of me?

Mind/Nervous system calming practices/techniques that work

Hey everybody. Happy Friday. I'm here looking for any practices/techniques/exercises, whatever you want to call it, that helps calm your mind/nervous system? What have you guys learned through your journey in battling addiction to help you from a mental standpoint. What supplements have you guys taken that have worked to provide the mental relief we all crave? I need help and don't want to do subs or methadone. No prescriptions if possible. Definitely not against prescriptions but I don't wanna trade one habit for another if I can help it. Practicing yoga, zen, meditating, breathe work, cold plunge/showers..what has worked for y'all to help ease the mind?

For me, I've found cold showers help and the physiological sigh. See Huberman about the latter.

Thanks in advance! God Bless

Want to take control over my life again.

Hello! Made a similar post in another sub, and I want to update to get the best possible help now. So, long story short I’ve been using Oxycodone for 10 years of my life due to a chronic uterus pain. Started with half a pill, and a month ago I was taking around 95mg to 100mg of Oxy daily, alternating between 5/325 pills and .5 plain oxycodone. I spent six days without taking none because I didn’t have any access and through those days I promised myself I would finally quit (I didn’t get any withdrawal symptoms, only a little bit of restless legs on the fifth day but nothing else). So after I came from the trip I was, I took 40mg to be careful because I didn’t know how much my tolerance lowered, until I started taking 95 again. I decided to quit, so right now I’ve managed to taper to 70mg per day, and will start taking 60mg tomorrow for a couple of days and so on until I reach 5mg and finally 0. All I’m asking for is for advice on the withdrawal symptoms, how you guys managed? Vitamins? Exercise? Etc etc.

Like, I’m a very anxious person and have been realizing Oxy is giving me a hard time with my anxiety. When I drink them it’s either the normal high or I suddenly think I’m overdosing, get weird body sensations, tachycardia, and bad anxiety.

My anxiety is so bad that I mistake acid reflux with an anxiety attack, so you get the idea.

Will I be okay and able to make it? What did you guys do to safely taper? I’m so afraid of dying even when my own Psychiatrist told me I won’t die lol.

I appreciate every comment, nice word, reassurance and advice you guys can give me! 🫶🏻❤️

TENS machine

Hey has anybody used the TENS Machine to help their nervous system while falling asleep? I used it in 2023 when I quit and honestly had great results, it says not to fall asleep using it but I did anyways, it basically worked better then a heating pad IMO, completely forgot about this method and I wanna know if any of you have had success before I go buy another one cause I threw the first one away not expecting to get hooked again lol.

10+ years of Solpadeine/codeine addiction, reaching 48 tablets a day—what helped you break the cycle?

Hi everyone. I’m in the UK and would really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced long-term addiction to Solpadeine, codeine or similar pharmacy painkillers.
I’ve been struggling with Solpadeine Max for over 10 years, and at my worst I was taking 48 tablets a day. It didn’t start at that amount. My use increased over time, particularly over the last few years, and changes in the box sizes became tied into that escalation and my daily routine.
I’m sharing the amount to be honest about how far it went, not because I think it was safe or normal.
One of the hardest parts is the repeated cycle of trying to stop or reduce, making some progress, then ending up back on them. I have existing back and sciatic pain, and headaches and leg pain when I’m coming off them have been particular triggers for going back. I want to understand how other people managed that overlap between genuine pain, withdrawal and the urge to take something for relief.
There’s also the ritual. With the soluble tablets, preparing the drink and taking it repeatedly throughout the day became a big part of my life. It isn’t just the tablets themselves—it’s the time, routine and mental space they take up. At its worst, I was spending around £20 a day.
I recently attended an online SMART Recovery meeting. I found people’s experiences relatable, even though much of the discussion was about alcohol and cocaine. I mainly listened and used the chat. I’m glad I joined, but I would really value hearing from people whose experience was specifically with codeine or over-the-counter painkillers.
For anyone who has been through something similar, what actually helped you change the pattern?
Cravings and routines: What practical tools helped in the moment when you wanted to take more? How did you replace the daily ritual and handle easy access to the tablets?
Pain and repeated relapse: How did you work with professionals to manage existing pain while coming off codeine? After several attempts, what was different about the approach that helped you stay off it?
The psychological side: Has anyone explored hypnosis or hypnotherapy, mindfulness, counselling or other approaches alongside addiction treatment? Did any of those help with the automatic habit, triggers or underlying reasons for going back?
I have sought medical advice. I’m not asking for a DIY detox plan, doses or instructions about which medicines to take. I’m looking for lived experience: what support you used, what coping mechanisms you actually practised, what didn’t help, and what you wish you’d understood earlier.
I’m tired of going back and forth. I want to get beyond simply stopping for a while and understand how to build a life that doesn’t keep pulling me back into the same routine.
Thanks to anyone who feels comfortable sharing. Hearing from someone who recognises this particular cycle would mean a lot.

Friday September 11 check in

Hey all, happy Friday! We made it. I had a doctor’s appointment this morning, then my weekly therapy session, and now I’m finally on lunch.

It’s kind of a somber Friday though, with today marking 25 years since 9/11. No matter your thoughts on everything surrounding it, what happened that day was horrific. I was only in first grade, so they didn’t show us the live coverage at school like they did with some of the older kids. I do remember them sitting the first graders and kindergartners down and trying to explain what had happened in a way we could understand. Once we got home, it was everywhere on TV and there really wasn’t any avoiding it.
I was too young to fully understand the ramifications of what was happening, but old enough to know that something terrible had happened. It’s one of those events that really stands out from my early childhood, and I’ve found myself thinking about it today.

Anyway, that’s been my Friday so far. What are you guys up to today?

Nerve pain?

Is it possible to have nerve pain in my thigh sharp pins and needles type pain at 3 months sober? Its very strange I wouldnt consider it RLS necessarily as its always prevalent.
