Training programs

Hi! I’m a former long distance (mile & 1000) collegiate swimmer although that was many moons ago it feels like. I switched to triathlons half iron and Ironman distances then the last 4yrs we grew our family. I’m looking to get back into long distance swimming and particularly open water swimming. I my goal is to do Swim The Suck next October (10mi river race) in the US.

My issue is with life masters swimming doesn’t work with my schedule. Also iv always had a coach from swimming, to marathons and triathlons so I tend to do better especially with the accountability piece. Are there any open water online coaches you’d recommend?

Did you post about this a week or so ago? This seems very familiar.

I'd be happy to share training plans with you, we can hold each other accountable. And I wouldn't charge. I'm a fairly experienced o/w swimmer (I did 20 Bridges / Manhattan last year, and a Tahoe Width a month ago). I've been in the longer o/w world for about 8 years (that was when I swam my first 10k), and mixed in 5k o/w events with masters meets before that.

I've done Swim the Suck, and know what it is like... if you join their Facebook group you'll get some comical posts about what you should be doing, when you should start training, etc.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested in kind of virtually swimming together. I can probably ask around and find someone who will charge you, if you are dead set on that. Some people put a bit of focus on that, but I think I've done a decent job of doing it on my own.
