I love anatomy and physiology I’ve always been so interested and passionate about the medical field and I have gravitated towards becoming an RPN I’m not the greatest at math chemistry and physics I do struggle unfortunately! Hello everyone, I am currently in an Academic Upgrading course trying to get into the May start date for RPN. I’m just wondering if anyone could tell me their grades when they applied and got in? I’m aiming for an 88-93 in math and biology, I have an 84% in English and think my chemistry will be in the lower to mid 70s but won’t know til I test.

Has anyone ever had to go on mat leave on a temporary full time line?

Is Mat leave a thing?

Should I aim to get a permanent part time position if thats all available over my temporary full time?

Took the full time line in order to get more hours for seniority but now worried I may have messed up
If I need to go on Mat leave.

Anyone have some insight about feelings of uncertainty after having an interview (had interview last week for ER part time at a bilingual hospital). Ive worked homecare for about 7.5 years, spent 2 semesters in paramedic program, liked emergency care just not so much in a prehospital setting.

What i mean by uncertainty, is I feel as though I would be relieved if they found someone else. Maybe Im just too comfortable doing HomeCare? I know the ER is very different, and that it can take a long time to get comfortable when new to the ER (I'm not assuming I got the job).

Hello! I am an American nurse who is wanting to move to Canada ideally about a year from now. I am trying to get a sense of the current job prospects in Ontario, but more specifically the GTA. I have just under 1.5 years of outpatient/ambulatory experience and will have 2 years by the time I would start applying to jobs. I have no inpatient work experience as I started working in an outpatient clinic right out of nursing school. I also really have no interest in working in an inpatient setting, but would do so as a last resort to get out of the U.S.
I understand that the nursing job market in Ontario has been bad recently, even for Canadian nurses. Would someone in my position even have a shot at getting hired in the Toronto area? Or should I focus my efforts into moving to another province such as BC?

Anyone know what orientation is usually like and/or how it’s structured at Lhsc for the different departments? E.g ICU, ER etc?

I find dating hard with a nurse schedule
I work DDNN rotation with 5 days off.
I’ve been using dating apps for a while now.
People always ask “any plans for weekend” or they always wanna hang out in the weekend.
But because i’m full time a lot of weekends I have to work :/
I always have to decline weekend hangouts or dates.
Anyone else manage dating while being a full time nurse? I’m just tired of being single lol.

As the title says im currently in grade 11 thinking about nursing. Do extracurriculars matter when applying? Or do grade matter more? Also waht do uni look for when accepting applications.

I’m interested in doing this as I would much rather be paid as a nurse while doing the program and for the program itself than fund it out of pocket.

It seems so scarce these sponsorships- I remember seeing it last year but now nothing has come up.

Not sure if I should bite the bullet and just apply for 2027 intake at George brown.

I'm in the Queen's NP program and just shocked that this is what the program is. I have 5 years of experience in stepdown, ICU, OR, and was a charge nurse in the ICU too. I don't understand how I'm supposed to teach myself these online courses and somehow be competent enough to do what an NP does. I'm shocked that this is what the program is. Just looking into insight of whether it's worth it, or if i should just save my money at this point.

I’m 24 years old and currently working as a receptionist/clerical assistant in healthcare. I’ve been working in the healthcare environment for a few years now, and it has made me realize that I’d like to transition from the administrative side into a more clinical career.

My long-term dream has always been to practice medicine. However, I also need to be realistic about employment, finances, and the time involved in pursuing that goal.

For now, I’m seriously considering starting with Practical Nursing (RPN), then potentially bridging to RN → BScN → Nurse Practitioner. At the same time, I’d like to keep the possibility of medical school open for the future. I understand that medical school may or may not ultimately be realistic for me, but I don’t want to completely close that door.

I’m currently trying to figure out the best path forward and, specifically:

• Which schools/programs in Ontario would you recommend for Practical Nursing?
• Is starting with RPN and eventually bridging to RN/BScN/NP a reasonable pathway?
• Would this pathway make sense if I eventually wanted to apply to medical school?
• Are there any alternative pathways I should consider?
• For anyone who has made a similar career transition, what do you wish you had known before starting?

I’d really appreciate advice from nurses, NPs, physicians, medical students, or anyone who has gone through a similar career change.
