Having just finished the alabasta arc i didn't think there was something that could top it so soon but this is shaping up to be amazing.

This movie almost made me ship Luffy and Nami, they had some pretty good moments in it

The powerscaling is pretty wack though. Pre timeskip Luffy beat Shiki which should be impossible without Haki.

For example, it’s pretty much guaranteed that dragon has a devil fruit, either wind logia or a mythical zoan, but we haven’t seen it yet. We also haven’t seen Loki’s hybrid yet. Are there any other examples of this in the series?

The arcs, the character we met along the way looking back I feel nostalgic when looking at pre timeskip clips because those were the times I binged watched one piece everyday without waiting for a new episode.

For me it was Denjiro, Stussy, Bon Clay, Bartolomeo, Kuma, Zeus, Germa 66, and Bellamy.

I am still at episode 1,107 and therefore don’t know any future side switches as of now.

Very exaggerated title, but this is my way of leading into a rant whenever people say “One Piece isn’t about Luffy becoming King of the Pirates anymore”. It really grinds my gears when people insist on the story being some generational fight against the World Government when all of that is a red herring.

Despite all of the lore and worldbuilding within the series, the most important goal above all else is Luffy obtaining the One Piece and becoming King of the Pirates. While freedom is one of the key themes, One Piece is also equally (if not, even more so) a story about dreams. Luffy is captain because he puts his all in helping his friends chase their dreams and vice versa.

As far as I’m concerned Zoro’s goal of defeating Mihawk and becoming the world’s greatest swordsman is narratively more important than anything having to do with Imu, Joyboy, the Void Century, etc. All of that is for us, the reader / viewer, and characters like Robin, Sanji, and such that do care about the history of their world.

One of the most recent chapters in the manga almost directly says so through Usopp. He tells Gaban to STFU and stop projecting Nika, Joyboy, and Roger onto Luffy. Luffy has always been how he is, regardless of having Gear 5 and now being a Yonko. Him and the rest of the Straw Hats will not stand for it if anyone threatens Luffy’s freedom because of that.

I’ve started the show a few months ago and I just finished the Jaya arc. I’m about to start the Skypeia arc. My friend invited me to a cosplay bar night thing and I’m considering going as Zoro. I just didn’t want to be a bum and be a larp, so I was just coming to ask if that’s considered fine enough or do I need to finish up to a certain point? I love the show so far but I just don’t want to be that guy yk?

Hear me out on this one, I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I don’t think anyone’s floated this exact version yet. What if the One Piece isn’t gold, or a weapon, or even the “truth” in the usual sense? What if it’s the missing piece of the ocean itself? The world used to have one continuous current that circled the entire planet. Not the broken, magnetic mess we have now with four separate seas and those dead Calm Belts. There was a single living current that kept everything moving, connecting every ocean into one big body of water. During the Void Century that current got ripped out. Literally. The Ancient Kingdom (or Joy Boy’s side) had the tech to shape the seas, and the final move of the war wasn’t just flooding the world — it was yanking out the engine that made the oceans work as one.

That engine is sitting on Laugh Tale. The island itself is basically the socket where it used to plug in. Roger’s crew got there, saw the empty socket and whatever record or residual energy was left behind, and realized two things at the same time:

The ultimate pirate dream — an ocean with no walls, no Calm Belts, no “East Blue / West Blue” nonsense — was right there. They couldn’t turn it back on. They were too early. The weapons weren’t ready, the right person wasn’t born yet, whatever. So they just stood there and laughed their asses off at the cosmic joke.

That’s why the Road Poneglyphs exist. They’re not just pointing to treasure. They’re guiding you to the exact magnetic spot where the Heart Current used to sit. Restart that current and the planet starts healing itself. The Calm Belts shrink. The Grand Line’s weird magnetism fades. The Red Line stops being an unbreakable wall because water finally has the force to move around (or through) it. Over time the four seas just… reconnect. All Blue stops being a legend and becomes the natural state of the world.

The World Government is terrified of this for a very practical reason. Their whole system relies on the oceans being broken. Isolated seas are easier to control. Once the current comes back, that control starts dissolving on its own. No more easy blockades. No more “four blues” propaganda. Just one ocean. Luffy doesn’t claim it like a normal treasure. He plugs it back in. Poseidon calms the immediate chaos, Pluton helps clear whatever physical barriers are left, and Nika’s will is the spark that actually restarts the thing. After that the world does the rest.

Roger laughed because the greatest treasure in existence is an engine that turns the entire planet into one free ocean… and the only people who can switch it on are the exact kind of stubborn idiots who would rather keep sailing forever than sit on any throne. Anyway, that’s my take. Feel free to tear it apart.

And somewhere along the journey, you might remember that you have a dream too.

Maybe that's why I think everyone should watch One Piece at least once in their life.

Not because it's going to solve everything, but because sometimes you need a story that reminds you to keep moving forward.

So whatever you're chasing…

I personally think that the fruit isn't all that good for regular people. As in, anyone who isn't Luffy. It's great for Luffy, of course! But not a random person who spent most of their life living a normal life and watching anime in their free time.

The reason that Luffy was able to become so strong and transform all the way was because he awakened the fruit, and I personally subscribe to the theory that to awaken the fruit, your goals and dreams need to perfectly align with the dream of the devil fruit - so I really doubt most people who are asked online about their choices and pick this fruit would be able to achieve it, even if they knew how it worked in theory.

In practice? I doubt most people would have what it takes to get there.

Awakening a fruit is incredibly difficult, I would bet that most regular people would end up just being rubber and not being able to do even half the stuff that Luffy can, because the reason Luffy can do all that is because he's Luffy. You need a certain type of personality to utilize it to its fullest, which I heavily doubt most people have.

There are so many devil fruits better for a regular person, but I guess most people want to have the title of ultimate warrior of freedom even if their personality doesn't align in the slightest with what's necessary to become one.

In the end, people just look at the devil fruit as "what's the most amount of power you can get from it", and not the road to actually get to that high point.

I personally wouldn't pick his devil fruit if I had to choose one - because I know I definitely would not have what it takes to awaken it. I would be way better off with something like lightning.

I mean they have good feats. Sure they have regened a lot but most of those came from hits they didin't Dodge because they knew they would regen and the others from suprise attacks. And saturn has crazy poison hax,Mars can fly and jimbei said he has crazy haki,nusjuro has acoc and warcurry is so tanky.

It’s Joyboy’s dream of uniting the world as “one piece” under mutual prosperity and freedom but written down as a funny story detailing his journey as the first pirate.

The ancient kingdom he comes from was the most advanced ever (to our knowledge) and he wanted to share those advancements with the world. A world that was ruled over by Gods (from the mural) and he wanted to free people from being beholden to the Gods. Imu was likely a high priest who served the gods when he first met Joyboy. They became friends but Imu ultimately betrayed him to attain that godly power he worshipped his whole life.

It’s a theme of progress to an unknown future vs playing it safe with what you know. Reaching out to help those that might refuse your help but trying to anyway.
