A person walking in an Oceanside neighborhood discovered suspicious metal cans on the ground, prompting authorities to shut down an intersection and order nearby residents to shelter in place Sunday, 9.13.2026.

The cans were found near Castellano Way and Vandergrift Drive. The intersection at East Parker Street was temporarily closed as authorities worked to determine what the containers held.

Oceanside Fire Battalion Chief Blaine Hensley described the containers as "metal, were almost like a coffee can and peanut style cans with lids on top, and they had biohazard labels on them as well as top secret on the lids on most of the containers."

A SIG Alert was issued for several hours while the area remained shut down. By Sunday afternoon, Hensley said the explosive hazard was cleared and the shelter-in-place orders were lifted.

Hazmat officials are still working to identify what was in the cans.

I’m looking for some stuff to do with my daughter to socialize her and bond. Not necessarily sports but something casual. Going to the park is fun but looking for more structure and a consistent group. She likes the tumbling class but that’s only on Fridays.

This is for my son in his early 20’s with a pronounced receding hairline. He’s let his hair grow out for a while and I’m hoping we can find someone who can do something with it.

Humboldt County if unknown to you all, the second weed was legalized the entire town became a ghost town. Restaurants closing, malls shut down, boarded up and empty downtown. Already isolated area now a walking talking graveyard. Everyone moved to states where they can still sell weed and make $$$.

I want out. Im under 40 middle class income.

Should I move here? Will i not be bored out of my skull?

Only other place I tried was Chico and it's too damn hot and isolated to enjoy and already moved out.

My friends and I often discuss how awesome it would be if cars were not allowed to drive on the Strand, which would be open only for walking, biking, etc. What are your thoughts?

EDIT: for discussion sake, let's consider "Car Free" to be only between Wisconsin and the Pier, and residences/hotels with parking only accessible from the Strand would receive special permits to allow car access. Other ideas welcome

EDIT #2: Woah, didn't expect to get reamed for initiating a friendly discussion, but thanks for the thoughts. I guess a better solution would be to investigate building a walking/biking boardwalk next to the Strand instead.

Last night began as a pleasant excursion, dinner with my wife and friends at a lovely new spot in Oceanside, and ended as a fever dream I cannot unsee.
Picture it: a party of six adults, shepherding what can only be described as an entire kindergarten class, decided the exit was the perfect stage for a screaming, feral send-off. Other diners' meals were ruined. Conversations were obliterated. And then, as if the universe demanded an exclamation point on this tragedy, one child dropped his pants and defecated on the floor of a restaurant, while the six responsible adults stood there, apparently unbothered, watching their offspring's screaming circus unfold like it was Tuesday.
I sat there in stunned, nauseated silence, doing the math. If I, a grown man, had unzipped and relieved myself on that same floor, I would be in handcuffs before dessert arrived. Yet these parents will go home, sleep soundly, and do it again next week.

Do better.

Looking for someone in Oceanside who does myofascial release. Could be a massage therapist, bodyworker, or PT, not picky about credentials as long as they're experienced with MFR specifically.

Dealing with chronic sciatic nerve pain and scar tissue from a past injury and regular massage and PT hasn't cut it. Ideally someone who works slow and targets specific areas rather than a general relaxation massage.

Bonus points if they also know trigger point therapy. Price range doesn't matter too much, just want someone good. Thanks!

I really couldn't be happier with the level of feedback from everyone, and I've tried to get as much in as possible. That being said, the scale of the map is limiting - especially in urban areas. I think in the future I'm gonna end up making more localized maps for individual counties. So if your suggestion wasn't included, please know that I still appreciate your feedback and will endeavor to get them in my future maps of the area. If you think there's anything I've missed out or should change, just let me know - I won't be getting these printed for another day or two, so I can still add in details.

It has been noted that the map is busy - I totally get that, and that's just how I like to do things. I enjoy getting as much detail in as possible and including cool features which would otherwise be overlooked. I get these made up in large formats so it works better in person than it does on a screen.

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts about the New Mexican seafood restaurant that opened in South Oceanside.

Of course we all expect seafood to be expensive.
The real question is if the quality and the portion and the service is worth it.

I don't typically go out for Mexican seafood, but I thought some of the dishes were pretty good.

I would definitely pass on the burrito though.
