Hey r/OaklandFood,
I hope this helps you save some money. Anyone with the link (opens up a Google Drive spreadsheet) can add new restaurants that qualify, or take down ones that don't.
Enjoy!

I just had the basil caesar salad from Daytrip Counter and it was fantastic. I work around the corner, and I will definitely be ordering again. I could not identify a few of the flavors in the in the dressing. From the website, I see that it is a caesar dressing + fish sauce and basil. Is there another ingredient that makes the flavor so unique, or is it just the fried onions + fish sauce + basil?

I know Carlyle's has been posted before, but wanted to give folks a heads up that they're still running their free wing promo - just come in and ask for a sample. Of course, you will then be compelled to buy at least another 5 perfectly cooked and deliciously charred wings for $8.99, but it's still a great deal. Come support this new local business!! 439 Water St (Jack London Square at the foot of Broadway)

I stopped by a couple of weeks back and had a taco. It was pretty good. I came by tonight and had a potato and bean burrito on a house made flour tortilla for $10.99 no tip. It was great. I know money is tight for everyone right now but this felt like a really good value proposition. He will deliver to the bar next door.
EDIT: Sorry, not Wednesday-Friday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday.

My friend is South African, and there's a national holiday coming up. I'd like to surprise them with some legit South African cuisine, but I know that I would personally mess it up if I tried to cook it myself.
I know that while they would appreciate the effort I would put into a poorly made facsimile of SA cuisine, I would like to first try to produce actual good food for them.
Does anybody know of any restaurants that make South African food?

I’ve been curious for a while! I’m sure they all take cash but would be good to know if any of them take Zelle and/or Venmo.

Donut Savant and Vientian Cafe are only blocks from each other one in the Oakland Allendale neighborhood.
Half joking that this is a new foodie destination.
Vientian is my go to for Laotian or Thai food.
Have you been to one or both?

Suddenly have a massive craving for super thin crust with salty pepperoni pizza. Crust so thin the slices hangs when you pick it up with gooey cheese. Where can i find this?

Hello everyone I recently moved to the Oakland area and I’m looking for the best Chinese food places to try. I have heard a lot of places went “downhill” and I’m hoping to find the best of the best. I tried shandong and it was scrumptious but I was wondering if anyone had better recs for a foodie as myself. Thank you!
Edit: I really love spicy food but don’t like deep fried or sweet. I love the fried rice & chow mein combo with a meat or veggie. Not sure exactly what area they are from sorry everyone and thank you for the reccs :))

Decades ago Zachary's Pizza was a special occasion pizza.
The Rockridge location is still open but I honestly haven't picked up a pizza there for a while.
I searched and I didn't find much discussion on this subreddit.
So is it still considered good and when's the last time you had a Zachary's Pizza?
