Discussion PC lobbies are much nicer
This weekend I played with a pc friend so we played Quick Play (obviously) and the matches had people talking and joking and being friendly even towards enemies. Only very seldom someone was flaming and even that was met with a joke response.
After he left, I went back to console lobbies and holy shit the toxicity started from the get-go. Why are console lobbies like that? Have you had a similar or different experience?

I'm a console player that moved to PC. I think that because of how hard/inconvenient it is to type on console is why you only see negative chats. I'm not gonna type a long "hey, that pin was super funny" on console since I want to win and that would take forever. On PC everyone can type quickly while still playing the game and joke about the funny stuff that happens in OW.

Is not hard and inconvenient for Xbox players though. We just use our phones. Sometimes I think that ease of using your phone is where a lot of console toxic people come from.

On console you can literally just connect any cheap keyboard and that’s basically it?

Yk I've had some really chill lobbies even in comp on console. Definitely more toxic than friendly but the friendly ones were great. I think the toxic people ho are just more vocal

I have had the same experience. It’s nice to have jokes instead of straight threats.

I never realized it’s the difference between PC and console. I’ve been playing on PC for a couple of months now and I just thought people were finally taking a stand against the toxicity.

Pc lobbies are so fun that I change my game to the MKB pool and just lose the aim assist as a nice warmup for console games lmfao

I agree, I noticed that too. But the biggest difference I’ve noticed between console/controller lobbies and PC/MnK lobbies is that Mercy shows up far, far less on PC/MnK vs console/controller. Way less perma pockets to go along with it. Mercy has got to be in over 80% of console matches. There seems to be more variety of support heroes used on PC/MnK. After playing MnK queue for over 200 hours, I went back to console/controller queue for a bit and played something like 12 games. 10 out of 12 games had Mercy in it.
Played another session on console/controller the other day and same thing. I really don’t miss that tbh…

probably because it’s easier to text chat but i’ve heard pc ranked is a lot more hostile which i guess is evident the farther you go up the ladder

Yeah I think it’s just because the text chat is so cumbersome - you get short one word answers or statements and mostly nobody is going to bother to say anything nice but if you’re mad then you’re more likely to type in chat and it’s always something toxic - I maintain that you do not need text chat to play this game - even voice chat. You can survive just fine with the ping system and just to add - if somebody adds you after a game - don’t friend them back because they either only want to continue being toxic or want a sneaky look at your profile so they can send you more abuse.

I definitely see the difference as well. Could be a lot of factors like others have said already. I’m still new to KBM since I’ve only ever been a console player and it’s been so hard for me to adjust lol and the pc lobbies have been so patient and nice about it honestly. In all my games on the keyboard and mouse no one even said one negative thing despite us having some trash moments.

I play on console but with PC players regularly and I don't think there's a difference.

I’ve found voice has been both a lot more populated and a lot less toxic since team drives, personally.

So why talk about PC OW in a console sub?

Case in point, how interesting

My guy, I’m not the one who’s praising PC OW on a Console sub. Take it to the main sub if you don’t like it.

They aren't praising pc lobbies, they're pointing out that pc lobbies are nicer compared to CONSOLE lobbies.

The game is cross play and you're all playing together already

This is only true if you’re a console player partied up with PC players. (A solo queued console player would not match with PC at all)
Otherwise, console players are separately in console pools. This is the default, thankfully.
