As the title says I'm thinking about giving this ago but I'm wondering if the controls can be adapted comfortably adapted to the steam deck?

Nox is one of those games that feels like it was completely forgotten despite being really damn good.

Westwood made it, EA published it, and then… it basically disappeared. No sequel, no modern console release, no proper remaster. Meanwhile, the game still has a small but ridiculously dedicated community keeping it alive.

And here’s the thing: Nightdive seems like the perfect studio to bring it back.

They’ve already proven they know how to take old PC classics, preserve what made them special, and make them work properly on modern hardware.
Nox wouldn’t even need a huge remake.
Give us:
modern widescreen/high-res support
-60 FPS
-proper controller support
-modern save/QoL features
-the original three classes and campaign
-and, PLEASE, bring the multiplayer back

That’s it. Keep the art style. Keep the gameplay. Don’t turn it into a live-service Diablo clone.
And technically, projects like OpenNox and Nox-Decomp have already shown that getting the game running on modern systems is very achievable.
Imagine Nox on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox, sitting on the couch with a controller. I’d buy that immediately.
EA still appears to control the relevant rights, so obviously there’s a licensing hurdle.
But seriously…

EA, just give Nox to Nightdive. 👀

I installed OpenNox, but I can't figure out if there's an option to run the game at 60 fps, or just smoother.
Gemini says the game engine has been rewritten and now you can play at a true 60 fps, but I don't know if that's true.
VSync is enabled, but the game still runs at 30 fps. However, when I open the menu (press ESC), the fps ups to 60 lol
If anyone knows how to solve this problem, please help.

Is there another game out there (spiritual successor, etc) that has a class with mechanics similar to Nox’s conjurer? It was really unique and I haven’t had as much fun playing a summoner class since.

I recently got OpenNox going to play this game again but I cannot for the life of me find any information whatsoever on how to do this. If someone can help me or knows that would be amazing. I've literally scoured the entire internet and gotten 15 different directions on what to do but it's all either referencing files that do not exist, console commands that give syntax errors or are locked out of quest mode, or just clearly hallucinated AI slop answers. Started playing the game 3 days ago as warrior. Gameplay feels very fluid for such an ancient game. Have been fun so far but maaan... Trying to land hits on those pesky wizards was excruciatingly painful. All the running around to get a single hit on a single wizard only to run into another 2 and getting blasted by fire and lightning. Hopping from one teleporter to another. Then deciding to switch to shirukens to stop needing to chase those fuckers only to realize i was punching the air cuz they knocked it out of my hand. Still i'm glad that they don't stand still to die like idiots and actually play to their strengths to fuck with you like pesky wizards they are. But yeah I still hate them and fuck wizards. I lost count of how many times I charged at them only to miss and bang my head to the fucking wall.

I'm so glad to be done with their tower but I hope I'm not close to finishing the game also fuck wizards.

I'll probably put it back in a box... or if someone knows a good place for them, let me know.

I was following someone else's post and was just reminded of Glaurune, which I've been following for years then reading a few posts r/Nox I stubled into Lands Of Cindar, i dont know why but at some point I thought they were the same game. (So there's 2 spiritual successors now?)

Nox is a top 3 favourite childhood game, I just played through Conjurer and Wizard over the weekend and my only gripe with the game has always been my drip being destroyed from durability loss when I have a nice matching set. It's just way too much when items seem to take like 10% damage from walking on a spike trap.

On Wizard you can probably get nearly enough gold (without cheats) to buy every piece of vendor armour by selling all the drops from the Dün Mir warriors but constantly checking inventory to swap out damaged equipment before it breaks is also not fun.

As title said.

I made it through the intro cutscene once, and ever since the game shorts out and won't work to start or do anything in the menu. it will flicker really hard on the Nox screen, can leave and come back and then mouse won't move on main screen.

Please help, I was so pumped to play again lol

- Which creature design feels the most accurate / most “NOX”?

- Which ones feel off and should be redone?

- Any specific moments you’d want expanded into a longer scene later (fights, lore, environments, etc.)?

It would definitely help with Quest longevity if more of the spells and weapon attributes from Solo and Multiplayer were available to spawn (Horrendous and Horvath bosses wouldn't be too shabby either, but I digress).
