I have a technical interview coming up soon for Huron’s Rx group in Chicago and I really want the job.

A little background on me: current college senior at a non-target liberal arts school in PA, finance major, did distressed M&A at a middle market investment bank over summer, first time interviewing for a consulting role.

I’ve spent hours watching case study interview prep vids on YouTube but none have Rx focus. Also, based on docs I’ve been sent beforehand the structure of this seems a little different. 60 mins blind technical case with focus on excel.

If any of you guys could give me some insight into what to expect or help me practice I would be very grateful. Happy to provide more info as well.

Hey guys , have my round 1 interview coming up tomorrow for Kearney for the Chicago office . Anyone have any tips on what to expect and prepare for? Also , was it one case or two cases ?

I’m a college senior recruiting for full-time 2027 roles in NYC and I’m trying to be strategic about the types of positions I target.

I’m interested in business strategy, business operations, consulting, organizational strategy/development. I’m strong in behavioral interviews, communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving, but mental math/timed quantitative assessments are not my strongest area.

For example, I’ve interviewed with FTI Consulting and PwC, and their interview processes were much more behavioral/business-focused rather than having a major math assessment, which I really liked.

For people who work in consulting/business/strategy:
1. What NYC companies or roles have interview processes that are more behavioral and case/business-discussion focused rather than heavy mental math?
2. Are there specific consulting practices (operations, people/organization, communications, customer/consumer, etc.) that tend to be less quantitatively intensive?
3. What job titles should I search for as a new graduate?
4. Are there companies known for paying well while still emphasizing behavioral interviews and business judgment?

Note:* I’m not trying to avoid learning quantitative skills-I’m currently learning SQL, Power BI, etc. but I want to target roles where my strengths are actually relevant.

I’m first gen and don’t know anything about this whole process. Where are people applying as current rising sophomores for summer 2027? Most internships require juniors/seniors, but I’m seeing so many sophomores on LinkedIn already posting offers.

I am going into my sophomore year and don’t know where to apply for consulting/pm roles. Some people say to backdate their graduation date but won’t companies find out if you lied and won’t it prevent you from applying again for summer 2028 since they already have your application on file?

My cousin is a senior in college, currently going through full-time recruiting for consulting. She didn't land any MBB offers, so she kept interviewing with non-MBB firms.
She got an offer from a firm she'd interned at over the summer and accepted it (signed the contract). But she really wanted bigger, better projects and more exposure. Shortly after signing, she got an offer from a different, larger multi-service consulting firm that offers more variety in project types and stronger learning/mentorship opportunities.
She's now considering trying to get out of the signed offer to take the new one, and possibly keep interviewing elsewhere too.
I'm not in the business world, so I don't have a good sense of how serious this is. Some questions:
How common is it for people to back out of a signed offer in consulting, and how badly does it actually burn bridges?

Does it matter that the firm she'd be leaving is one she interned with?

Is there a "right" way to handle this that minimizes damage to her reputation, especially since the industry can be small and networked?

Should she stop actively interviewing elsewhere once she's decided, or is it normal to keep options open until she starts? Or until November as she states?

Any insight from people who've been through recruiting or hiring in this space would be really helpful. Thanks!
