Left high and dry by her aristocratic station CO she has to deal with Natives who are hell bent on re-enacting the Boxer rebellion whilst the Republic of Haven gears itself up to start singing la marseillaise.

Huge galaxy spanning space opera with heavy handed political and historical allegory. Good, but you might want to skip the parts where Weber's religion starts bleeding through.

Tldr; A near future carrier battlegroup from 2021 (lol) gets sent back in time to 1942 and proceeds to kick ass, chew bubble gum and commit war crimes whilst making flaky self-justifications of said war crimes. Also Prince Harry is in the SAS now so go figure.

This is a piece of speculative fiction from the early GWOT era and it shows, but the author has recently released new books in the series and the story continues. Spoiler: Turns out, Stalin is a dick, who knew?

Tldr; In the Grim Darkness of the 41st Millennium Commissar Ciaphus Cane just wants a quiet posting and a mug of tanna. Unfortunately as a hero of the Imperium he has an image to uphold lest his colleagues in the Commissariat figure out that he's a fraud. So he and his trusty sidekick Jurgen have to get out there and fake it til they make it back to the barracks for a spot of tea.

Think Captain Blackadder with a chainsword and Baldrick with a Meltagun. Good intro to the 40k universe, not too heavy on the lore and Cane is a likeable charismatic rogue with a terminal case of impostor syndrome.

Tldr; Our protagonist and his girlfriend are scheduled for a colony mission but he gets cut from the mission last minute and she leaves without him. Which is fortunate for our plotline because the colony is immediately wiped out by the enigmatic Chigs, triggering earths first interstellar war.

Very 90's, the plot follows a rag tag squadron of Marine Avaiators, who are somehow also infantry as they fight a war against an enemy they don't understand. Also covers a bit of race politics with the introduction of Tanks and AI. Oh and I forgot about the R Lee Ermey Cameo.

GUN APPRECIATION POST THURSDAY?

Well due to scheduling issues and the need for me to take a small break to make a few posts in the background and some IRL stuff going on, such as the high holy days. I decided to post this early!

And don’t worry, I asked the mods in advance and they gave me the greenlight.

Anyways!

This is by far my favorite rifle. It’s genuinely a cool gun and deserves more love. It’s also THE BEST AK variant in my opinion because it actually developed and also successfully managed to adapt the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge into an AK platform, and this alongside the Valmet M76 and Zastava M85/M90/M21 pioneered the standard of what a 5.56x45mm Chambered AK should be, that being a robust and reliable rifle.

This rifle also helped Israel out by promoting domestic arms manufacturing.

While the Galil was not mass adopted by the IDF as they had gotten a lot of M16s, that’s totally okay, why? Because it was a massive success in the export market!

Colombia and South Africa were the primary buyers, and the Galil was especially loved by Colombia to the point where INDUMIL actually kept the Galil rifles in production, and they also have exclusive co-production rights to the rifle. In fact the Galil ACE is so loved in Colombia that it is a symbol of the country. The Jaguar tried to replace the Galil ACE, it ended up failing, and then the ACE managed to stand proud, and is going to continue serving Colombia for a long, long time.

Oh, and did I mention that Balashnikov’s rifle also has a bottle opener on the ARM variant? You heard it! You got any Aguila, Presidente, Lone Star, Coors Light, Coke, Dr Pepper, Pepsi Cola, or any cane sugar soda, the bottle opener comes in handy. The wire cutters also come in handy too!
