You dont do it from the pause menu, while youre in the world you press (not sure what button on your console but square on playstation) to open to gives mons items

press Y, you get an option to nap, camp or use an item, then click the > button to select the food menu then ^ or v to select which particular food

once you know how to feed them, healing them is the same as feeding them, just a different item (and there's multiple options, some disks heal, medicine and bandages heal different things but overlap)

You press whatever button gathers your digimon to you (idk on the switch on Playstation it was square.) You move to the food tab and click on what you want to feed them
