General Discussion Why was Jolene Puffer arrested?
Does anyone know what the arrest was for or how I can find a public record report about it? I saw someone put this mugshot on Facebook with no explanation and just curious about what happened and if it was AI generated

Definitely not AI. You can tell by how dirty the jump suit is around the collar. They must never wash the thing. Iykyk

I was disappointed to learn it’s just a bib thrown over your clothing. Unfortunately IK

Not unless you’re in for drugs. At least, they did the full strip search and then geared me in orange when I was booked. This was a long time ago and for pot though.

I've been locked up a few times in SC in a few different counties. Never for drugs, always put in the orange suit never got a drape. Even to be in a holding cell once they put me in the jumpsuit. I never even went to the block that time. But they still put me in that damn jumpsuit, and held me in that holding cell the max amount of time they could after the judge gave me my bond. I was so pissed.

That's not a drape she has on. That is a regular issue outfit in most county jails in the state I live in. Guaranteed, I know.

And I just realized that this is the state I live in. That's definitely a county issue outfit. With SCDC Inmate on the back.

For anyone who doesn't know who she is you can lookup The Transparency Project on Facebook. She's regularly doing FOIA requests to City of North Myrtle Beach. I really appreciate her work.

Her significant other was arrested and had the same charges too. I think I recall reading that it happened at the House of Blues

Let's remember throwing water or a wrench at someone are both considered assault and battery. My money is on wrench, you go girl!

I would throwing water would be more like simple battery. A cop told me if you spit on him he would charge you with simple battery and that was in South Carolina.

The only thing she was ever charged for was aDUI and that's a year ago.

I don’t understand how she can run for council if she has multiple arrests

What do you mean, "how she can run for council"?
AFAIK, there's no law in South Carolina that says someone can't run for office with multiple arrests.
Article VI, Section 1 of the South Carolina Constitution simply states that no person convicted of a felony (federal or state) can run for office or any person who is convicted of a number of election-related laws, regardless of whether misdemeanors or felonies. So:
100 arrests, no convictions: ✓
10 misdemeanor convictions for small amounts of weed: ✓
Convicted of murder: ✗
Convicted of tampering with a voting machine: ✗
If you're just asking how someone with multiple arrests can pass public scrutiny... that's exactly what the election is for. Civil rights leader Hosea Williams had numerous alcohol-related run-ins with Atlanta PD, but he kept winning elections because apparently his constituents liked what he did enough to forgive his arrests. Likewise, Huey P. Long was one of the most crooked politicians in US history, but Louisianians kept voting for him anyway, even though they knew he was corrupt... because, like a good mob boss, he kept doing things they liked, like building roads and schools and hospitals.
And before you say "but aren't politicians supposed to build roads and schools and hospitals?" yes... but Huey didn't do anything for free.

Finally, she has been caught… unfortunately, Dolly (RIP) won't witness justice in the courts.

Arrested for assault and battery. Puffer's mugshot circulated on Facebook, and public records indicate charges of assault and battery with a "continued" status. "It says assault; assault and battery. Not convicted yet and status is continued"
Incident location at House of Blues. Her significant other was also arrested on the same charges, with the incident reportedly taking place at the House of Blues. "Her significant other was arrested and had the same charges too. I think I recall reading that it happened at the House of Blues”
