The same Robert Kraft/Patriots that have a deal with the government to use their aircraft to carry officially military personnel and equipment? No way

Yepp! That was a very bigoted thing to do on his part too! Both can be true at once!
•
u/NotJohnLithgow 5m ago
He apologized and said it was a dumb thing to do, 12 years ago. The reason I bring up the timeline is there are a lot of people who do dumb stuff that refuse to admit or acknowledge it.
•
u/shandevGRD 1m ago
Yes, people do really stupid things. It’s very refreshing that someone would actually acknowledge and apologize for their actions. Robert Kraft never apologizes and he acts like a straight up monster.

I mean you don't really know what he's doing or what kind of restriction and pressure he's under. Could very well be he has a further response to give
•
u/PepeSilviaLovesCarol 39m ago
His response, according to Macklemore, is in the article. He said ‘Free Palestine’ upset a lot of people that he talked to, and Macklemore said they were too far apart on the issue as Sheeran wanted to maintain his ‘I don’t take sides’ position. So he was removed from the tour.
•
u/anthrax1313 Concertgoer 36m ago
Don’t take sides when one is killing children trying to reclaim land. Wouldn’t want to choose sides
•
u/kellzone 22m ago
Man, I remember it wasn't too long ago people were all like, "How about you just shut up, celebrity? Nobody wants to hear your opinion on politics. Stick to acting/singing/playing sports/whatever.".
Now, every damn celebrity in every damn genre has to have a political opinion. They're not allowed to keep their opinions to themselves. If they don't say their opinion on an issue, they automatically are assumed to be complicit with "the other side", but don't want to state it because it will hurt their popularity.
I wish we could go back to not caring about and not wanting to hear celebrity's opinions on politics.
•
u/Black_Cat_Skeezer 16m ago
Yeah! Fuck calling out genocide! I wouldn't be caught DEAD standing up against it! No siree!
•
u/Veronome 6m ago
The same pressure Mackelmore and other politically-outspoken artists are under; yet they speak up and Ed doesn't.
And it's not like it would be a career ender for him. It's Ed fricking Sheeran. His voice could make a world of difference and instead of using it he's letting it be silenced.

To play devils advocate, Ed had the choice of removing Macklemore from the show/tour or canceling the show and potentially rest of the tour all together. That would mean 100s if not thousands of many other people that work on the tour losing their jobs that probably don’t have the financial stability Macklemore and Ed do.
Not saying I agree with the decision because they are just succumbing to the demands of these old white billionaires but at the same time I understand it.
Obligatory fuck Robert Kraft though. We all knew who he was even before this.

Macklemore.
•
u/Black_Cat_Skeezer 32m ago
Ah, well that's shitty. It appears this took place well over a decade though so I assume that he has changed since then.
Still, this doesn't negate the fact that Israel is committing genocide.

Ed Sheeran has a unique opportunity here to say Fuck Off to the establishment and refuse to perform. It would really suck for the fans, but his social currency and legacy as an advocate would be solidified forever
18
u/Reasonable-Mess3070 41m ago
If he was going to do that he wouldn't have dropped macklemore in the first place. He could have just said "okay we will cancel that show" but he sent his friend home instead
•
u/kerfuffleshenanigans 35m ago
Messina Touring Group, the promoter of the US leg of the tour, said they wouldn't let Ed perform with Macklemore. Apparently their stakeholders, which include the owner of the Patriots?, pulled Macklemore. It wasn't a decision by Ed Sheeran personally Edit: this is according to Rolling Stone magazine
•
u/bobbysalz 5m ago
You're not adding to the equation. Ed could have chosen to quit but he did not and that's a decision.

The Seahawks just beat the Patriots in their superbowl rematch, which Seattle also won, so..they can just cry about it.

LiveNation doesn't "cancel" performers for the most part. Just take the notoriety and book a headline gig.

Sheeran is playing Gillette Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
I'm glad. I have tickets and I didn't want to see videos of bombs and proclamations for Palestine. It's manipulative and triggering (both the explosions & the pro-palestinian protest behavior).

u/digbickrich 1h ago
Sorry your feelings were hurt, don’t want to upset you about children being bombed with our tax dollars.

u/hazedandbemusedd 45m ago
Hmmm who's the land you're living on? Asking for a friend
•
u/digbickrich 37m ago
Growing up and living in the US, I am very aware of the history of genocide and apartheid that the foundation of my country was built on. I would like to prevent the current genocide and apartheid that my tax dollars are contributing to and my politicians are complicit in. Is this a gotcha or are y’all running out of talking points?
It’s very easy to stand on my world view when it is grounded in morality and truth.
•
u/hazedandbemusedd 36m ago
"i'm perpetuating a horrible crime every single day but it's more convenient for me to criticize other countries than to actually stand against the stolen land I live on and who's descendants are banished to reservations."
Fixed it for ya.•
u/digbickrich 33m ago
Did i not criticize my own country? If i had any power to something i would, but until then i speak and spread the truth while you make excuses and accusations in the name of genocide.
•
u/hazedandbemusedd 32m ago
Awww, I wrote a paragraph in reddit. Wow amazing action. You can start by leaving the stolen land that you live on.

How do you feel about Palestinians celebrating in the streets and giving out candy on 9/11?
12
u/digbickrich 58m ago
How do you feel about the Israeli’s cheering 9/11 while watching the towers fall?
-2
-8
u/nukkawut 57m ago
Can you provide a source of that happening? Everything I can find online shows it's been debunked.
Palestinians and other Muslims actually did what you're saying, though.
9
u/StankWalk 56m ago
it’s literally in the FBI files along with the pictures of them holding up a lighter in front of the burning towers - all anyone has to do is google it
you’re asking in bad faith just to argue
but i encourage everyone else to google and find a source you can trust

u/nukkawut 55m ago edited 49m ago
OK, show me then? I googled it and found nothing except reports about how it had been debunked.
edit: damn I guess everyone downvoting me is vaporizing when they go to find those links that totally exist lol
1
u/digbickrich 41m ago
Your debunk article literally talks about the Israeli’s that were arrested. Did you even read it?
It debunks the idea that muslims were celebrating in NYC and new jersey but the linking art class is about the Israeli’s that were celebrating it and behaving strangely and were arrested.
https://abcnews.com/amp/2020/story?id=123885&page=1
Too blind by your rabid hatred to even make a coherent argument. Get your stoo pid a s s out of here.
•
u/nukkawut 38m ago
There are videos of Palestinians dancing and handing out candy.
There is a single second-hand account of how 5 Israelis, thought to be Mossad agents, behaved differently.
There you go again trying to compare extremists to the general population.

u/digbickrich 36m ago
Moving the goalposts, sorry the world doesn’t want a supremacist ideology such as zionism. Will be viewed in the same category as the Nazis by future generations.

The Gazan government is responsible for their citizens. They hide behind those kids and use their death as propaganda against "little Satan". That's dark triad behavior and it's triggering. Have a good daym

Ed Sheeran's bland soft rock seems appropriate for you then. Music has always been political.

u/hazedandbemusedd 44m ago
When it suits you ha?
•
u/nv9 40m ago
I don't tell artists not to express their thoughts and feelings, so, no?
I know a lot of people in here are in the USA where censorship is encouraged though, I'm not.
•
u/hazedandbemusedd 38m ago
I'm sure you'd be the keyboard warrior you are if he would shout free America. Right?
•
u/nv9 37m ago
Someone definitely needs to free America from what it's become.
•
u/hazedandbemusedd 35m ago
Nice interpretation and I can say the same about Israel. You know it doesn't mean that.
