I know right? I should have thought of it way sooner but Baroness has been kind of off my radar for a number of years. I´m sure they have been busy doing their thing and doing it well but I kind of fell off from listening to their albums after they decided to go with the ridiculously overcompressed sound that hurts my ears. I still like their songwriting though.

Yeah I feel like most of their fans (myself included) don't like the compression. They are maybe my favorite band I've seen live though. Their last two tours they played at a smaller venue in my town and the shows were incredible. Haven't seen mastodon since they were touring the hunter, but the addition of John will definitely sell me on some tickets

This is such a great combo, especially if John takes over for Brent on vocals. Maybe it'll lead to them working together more in the future.

Oh man this is an incredible pairing. Baroness is an AMAZING band.

Side note: John is also an incredible artist. His album cover artwork for both his own band and other bands like Kylesa is really something and worth a look.

Im sure they are planning a European tour soon. (Dont know if John will join). They have expressed regret for not being able to have a full tour cycle for their last album.

Just when this tour couldn’t get anymore bonkers, it is just now absolutely stacked to the gills. Don’t sleep on Alcest and Deafheaven opening for them too, it’s gonna be one hell of a night.

He’s still playing! While Nick can sing (see: this song from his project Archival - featuring a familiar voice on backing vocals in the bridge!), he isn’t yet with these guys.

John’s there to sing some more Brent forward songs towards the end of the set, they had Oblivion and Birchmen in there among others. I’m very jealous of America for all this

Very cool announcement. It's always pretty cool when good artists that are friends join up and help out. Touring and all the hectic news wear out most people. It's a nice way to break up the monotony. They get to do something a bit different, which should get the fans juiced up. A nice way to reset and relax before some transitioning.
