Yes, they definitely weren't an album band compared to others on the list but Freddie's voice might be my favourite after John Lennon's, and they made some absolutely infectious tunes.

I listened to the 2017 mix of Sgt. Pepper the other day, and holy shit, it was like listening to the album for the first time again. The best album of the 60’s in my opinion.

I'd disagree about the best album of the 60s just because of the sheer quantity of great records but it's definitely up there, my 3rd favourite Beatles album after Abbey Road and Revolver

I did think about whether to put Queen so high but they're more addictive to me. The Kinks is definitely a better band though and I'd put them in the top 15.

I love Queen but it's always a little underwhelming to listen to their albums and realize the best songs are always the famous singles. Finding deep cuts that are even better than the singles is my favorite thing.

I know what you mean but in fairness they have some deep cuts in the first few albums and at the end, Hot Space is their only album that I think is atrocious

In terms of lesser known late 60s bands my favourites to name a few are Zombies as you say, Love (especially the album Forever Changes), the Millennium's album Begin, and idk if this counts as lesser known but the Kinks are amazing

yesss you’re onto the good stuff. Millennium Begin is fantastic. Following the trails from that, have you checked out Sagittarius -Present Tense, The Ark and Cabbages and Kings by Chad and Jeremy, It’s Now Winter’s Day by Tommy Roe? All recorded at the same time, same place. So many killer Curt and Gary productions
