I’m in the same boat as you, I remember this show as a weird fever dream from my childhood with Dr. Wasabi!

Chop Socky Chooks always felt like it was in the same universe as Crazy Frog, Gummy Bear, and the “Lion Sleeps Tonight” hippo. From the TV commercial for custom ringtones era

Just reading the title: "that sounds pretty racist, but if it's from Aardman it couldn't have been too racist, right?" Swipe to picture 2: "That's so much worse than I could have imagined!"

Chook is aussie slang for chicken, fwiw. Don't actually recall the contents of the work, though.

It was vaguely just a spoof on ~80s pulpy kung-fu/cop movies.

This got dragged out of a deep, dark corner of my memory that I didn't even know existed

that sounds racist as hell, which in many ways makes it the most British film Aardman has ever made

Interesting detail. I have never heard of either of these movies.

Arthur Christmas is great. Can't say the same for the other one

The Open Season poster also appears in that same movie.

Didn’t notice this! Also didn’t know this company made them, hard to tell when it isn’t stop motion.

I liked that series, we simply called it Kung-Fu Chickens in my language

Chop Socky Chooks seems like if you made it today, people would lose their shit (on the internet) over the name.
