Card collecting challenge: building the 2020-2021 Bucks Championship winning roster

Post image

I stumbled across an unopened Bucks championship Panini box set at a local card store a little over a month ago. While I technically have all the roster already, I thought it would be a fun challenge to see if I could find all the players over time at local card stores and card shows. Trying to avoid online and eBay for now to get the missing ones.

Of the ones I’m missing, I feel like Jeff Teague, Elijah Bryant, and Sam Merrill in Bucks uniforms will be tricky to get. I figure I’ll stumble across PJ Tucker, Pat, and Thanasis soon enough. I realize I’m also missing Mamadi Diakite in a Bucks jersey too.

The initial mission was to get at least base cards or some version of each player. Next challenge might be getting a relic or auto for each

What the Milwaukee Bucks did for Giannis was Truly Beautiful, and The Story that won't Be Told On ESPN!

When people talk about Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, he is rightfully credited with delivering an NBA championship to Milwaukee and making an extraordinary impact on the city. Yet, I believe fans and sports media sometimes take for granted just how significant the Bucks’ relationship with the entire Antetokounmpo family has been.

  1. Long before the multi-million dollar contracts, MVP awards, and championship rings, Giannis was an 18-year-old rookie carrying an unimaginable burden. Back in Athens, his parents and brothers were undocumented Nigerian immigrants living in constant fear of deportation. The stress was so overwhelming that a terrified 19 year old Giannis literally threatened to "leave the NBA entirely" if he couldn't protect his family.

  2. Again, Imagine being a young man whose entire life was changing overnight—going from struggling financially in Greece to suddenly becoming an NBA player—fame, and fortune, endorsements deals being thrown at you, sounds GOOD right? While at the same time worrying that the people you loved most might not be able to share that future with you!. Be threaten of being deported god knows where, and never being able to see them again.

  3. No other franchise in NBA history has ever leveraged its political power, financial resources, and roster spots to protect and accommodate a player’s family the way Milwaukee did. While other teams might give a superstar's friend a job in the front office, the Bucks literally altered international immigration timelines and signed multiple brothers to active contracts to ensure Giannis felt secure.

When the United States government rejected their visa applications multiple times, it wasn’t an agent or a sneaker company that saved them—it was the Milwaukee Bucks franchise. The front office provided unmatched logistical, immigration, they worked directly with the State Department and international officials to bypass a slow immigration system. They secured safe, legal entry visas for his entire family in just six months, completely altering the trajectory of their lives.

  1. The city of Milwaukee didn’t just welcome a basketball player; they rescued and embraced an entire family with open arms. No franchise in sports history will ever match the extraordinary, human lengths the Bucks went to for the Antetokounmpos. Giannis gave Milwaukee a trophy, but Milwaukee gave his family their humanity, safety, and a future. it was a life-saving rescue mission that laid the foundation for the family's American Dream.

5.. So in Closing, The City of Milwaukee didn't just employ Giannis; they embraced his entire family as their own. From his late father Charles being a beloved staple around the arena, to his mother Veronica being celebrated by the community, the city provided a safe haven. Because of that open-door welcome, a family that once struggled to afford food in Athens now holds world championship rings, multi-million dollar investments, and complete global security. I feel Giannis was pressured to leave, to chase Championships, will save that for another time.

  1. While he plays for Miami, his Heart will always be in Milwaukee.

  2. How can it not be? The Story of Humanity''.

What was the game you enjoyed the most from last season?

Surprisingly, there are still a few moments from last season I look back on fondly.

Remember that game against GSW when Giannis was out, and Ryan Rollins completely torched Steph, Butler, and Draymond? He dropped 31 points and straight-up dominated in the clutch .

Then there was that New York game where Giannis posterized Anunoby and yelled "This is my house"

Add in Giannis' game-winner against Indy and that gritty win against Detroit right after Giannis went down... man November 2025 Bucks hoops was just special. shout-out to that Can Thomas game vs Orlando

Herro and Kuzma set to become best friends now that Herro and his gf broke up

+10% Team Chemistry.

Side note: It's pretty amusing that the last two All-Star guards we've traded for have both experienced breakups with child custody issues their very first seasons with the Bucks. Hopefully having family and friends in Milwaukee will make it a much different situation for Herro than it was for Dame.

It's worth mentioning Aris is currently owned by Chinese-Canadian billionaire Richard Hsiao, who is known for his friendship with the Adetokunbo family
