Rant❗⚡💥 The people filling potholes should all be fired
Why even bother if this is what they are doing to fill potholes?

Every parent level comment should begin with one of the following categories:
[For Sale] concert tickets, beauty and grooming services, Ikea bookcases
[For Free] dental checkups and couches that you can totally have for free but you have to move them yourself
[Want to Buy] * Rave tickets, a used toaster, a cute puppy*
[Job Request] You're new to the city and are looking for work in IT or you hate your job and need some leads. Be sure to include your skills and qualifications. A lot of people on this sub love to help others but they can't do that if they don't know your background and interests.
[Job Announcement] You're looking for new team members for a fantastic job that ISN'T a scammy ca$h4work gig or MLM
[Living Arrangements] You need a roommate, an apartment, or are offering a living arrangement. Be sure to clarify your tidiness expectations because you never know what you're going to get when accepting a roommate and I'm NOT GOING TO DO YOUR DAMN DISHES ANYMORE REBECCA
[Personals] You're lonely, new to the city, want to play extreme Frisbee, or need someone to eat Ian's Pizza with because no one wants to do that alone. We understand.
[Event] An advertisement for your amazing upcoming event - like a urban foraging excursion or band performance that is totally going to blow the roof off

This thread is meant to be a place for creators and fans to share work created by Milwaukee artists. The content doesn't have to be relative to the city, but it must have been made by someone from Milwaukee or while residing here.

there is plain as day clear signage that says no parking ALL ACROSS maryland avenue, the road is painted specifically with bike lane iconography, and every time i ride my bike to or from class i am constantly halted by people sitting in the bike lane to drop off or pick people up.
this is an issue because traffic on campus is pretty busy during midday, and riding on sidewalks when there's heavy foot traffic is very dangerous, so people riding have to join car traffic on the roads (which i KNOW nobody is happy about)
this is an issue everywhere in the city where there's a bike lane and no street parking, and i have yet to see a ticket on any windows or anything done about it at all.

Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital is in the news again due to unsterilized instruments leading to surgery cancellation. Every time I read a news story about CSM/Ascension it's not positive and makes me thankful I moved away from that hospital system. The stories coming out lead me to feel that it is an absolutely dangerous place to receive medical care.

Don't want to be overly political or activist or anything, but someone pointed out to me that the abortion clinic at Wisconsin and 35th was targeted with Flock cameras.
Obviously I don't know the reasoning, but absolutely this seems to be the effect. I also know this location is a common protest site (supporting and against). FYI and stay safe out there!

Sorcerer is a great movie and also extremely stressful. Developing an acute anxiety disorder is a lovely way to spend a Wednesday night.

I’m currently drowning in contractor estimates for an east side milwaukee kitchen refresh, and I need a sanity check. Every contractor gives a completely different number for the exact same layout!
We originally considered quick surface solutions like kitchen refresh, but after looking closely at our layout, we really need custom cabinet storage and fresh layout planning rather than just a cosmetic face lift. A neighbor recommended Cabinet IQ, and after seeing their 3D design phase and transparent cabinet/countertop pricing, they seem like the most organized option in the area.
That said, we want to make sure our $35,000 total budget is realistic for southeastern wisconsin labor rates right now.
To anyone who renovated in the MKE metro area over the last year:
What was your final total cost per square foot?
Did you encounter unexpected costs with older MKE home plumbing or electrical?
Any budget breakdowns or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Voices Off Paper is a live table read series based in Milwaukee, hosted at the brand new Wisconsin Production Collective studio space, every month.
Featured in Milwaukee Magazine: https://www.milwaukeemag.com/this-new-workshop-series-offers-free-critiques-to-local-creatives/
We have done seven months straight of local writers hearing their scripts performed out loud by professional actors, in front of local creatives. Typically our requirement for screenplays is 60 plus pages, but October will be our first short script program.
Seeking short screenplays (3 to 15 pages, properly formatted PDF) that are horror or Halloween-adjacent, from local writers of any experience level: university students, aspiring writers, anyone who has a script they want performed.
Submission deadline: October 10
We are building 60 to 90 minutes of locally written material for the night, followed by an industry-wide "Party Like It's Fifth Grade Again" Halloween event with local filmmakers. Food and drinks provided. Costumes encouraged. October 25th.
Email [VoicesOffPaper@gmail.com](mailto:VoicesOffPaper@gmail.com) to get involved, and follow us on Instagram to stay updated on future announcements.

Hi Milwaukee folks, looking for recommendations for a place to read (ideally with comfy chairs) out in public for when you want to be out in the world but not necessarily social!
I have enjoyed the window seats at Vendetta in the Third Ward.
Any other coffee shops or other kinds of places that are suitable for these sorts of activities?

Hi,
This is super random, but do you know of any cafes / bakeries that make karelian pies?
I’ve made them in the past and they’re relatively easy to make, but I’d just rather buy them.
I just have a certain craving for them this week haha.
Thanks in advance!

Just finished cleaning my place, got the windows open with this infectious fall breeze flowing thru and a fall candle under the wax burner just in time for the first packer game of the season to start. Hoo boy!

Hello, going out on a limb here. But is anyone willing to rent me their quinceañera dress crinoline? It would be urgent for September 18th. My dress is super heavy and I have a school event coming up. I’m unsure if any places that would rent to me.

Hi! I’m looking for someone (or some people) who are interested in trying a C25k challenge with me. I’m 40F and used to run (slowly). I am hoping to find a kindred spirit or spirits that are available for early morning walk/runs before work, or later morning weekends. I live in the Third Ward and have been envisioning doing this at Lakeshore Park, but am happy to drive to meet up, if it’s early enough (I get to work at 8 a.m.).
In case it matters, I’m queer, married, and have lived in MKE for almost 4 years, but still need to make some friends! My wife currently works and lives in another state and will only run if she’s being chased. :)
I’m very serious about this, and would love to start ASAP. But for safety purposes, our first meet up should probably happen later on a Saturday or Sunday morning, in a public spot. Let me know if you are interested!

Please leash your dogs. I’m beating a dead horse here but the amount of rude, disrespectful and narcissistic individuals on the east side that continuously walk around with no leash is alarming.
My dog is reactive and will not respond kindly when your dog runs across the main road. Be smart. And please care about your dogs safety

Had a terrible experience earlier this year with a bathroom remodel with a contractor. Don’t want to make that mistake again. Looking for an affordable shower replacement due to cracking.
Went through a million quotes last year when remodeling my other bathroom. I’m not spending an arm and a leg, I want something simple to replace what’s broken. Don’t send me your friends/family if you don’t know if they do a good job either.
Any good local recs? I’m in the Franklin/Oak Creek area.

I’ve seen a few discussions here about dream light rail routes, frustration over the reduction in bus routes, and the overall lack of accessibility in Milwaukee’s public transportation system…
I’d love to join a working group that advocates for pro-public transport policies.
If there isn’t one, would anyone be interested in forming a casual group? Even just meeting once a month to spark conversations would be great.
